We are pleased to congratulate our client Mall of America on a successful trial win this week.? ? Our trial team of Heidi Bassett, Katherine Cochran and Madison Volk, along with the support of our litigation team behind the scenes, successfully defended the Mall against a $14 million-dollar civil suit. The jury agreed with our trial team’s presentation of the facts in the case. ? Congratulations to our team on this victory and thank you for your tireless effort on behalf of our client.? ? Yesterday, a jury found Mall of America was not liable for a 2019 fall from an escalator in the Sea Life Aquarium. It was a great result for our client, the right result under the law, and I learned more from this trial than I have from any other. “Nobody can predict every possibility.” A prospective juror made this comment during voir dire, and it taught me that this case was really about common sense. I’m fascinated by the layers of solutions the Mall develops to address all sorts of risks. But even Mall of America’s cutting edge security team can’t predict every possibility. The jury had to use common sense to conclude the Mall was reasonably safe. And it did. I’m honored that Mall of America trusted my team (Katherine Cochran and Madison Volk) with this challenging case. And I’m proud that our hard work paid off.
