Hospitality Management Company with Boutique Hotels in New England, California and Beyond

关于我们

Boutique hotel management is Lark’s specialty. Lark hotels embrace the locations they are in — but in playful, unexpected ways. Think “sense of place” with imagination and a touch of mischief. We invite our guests to experience modern luxury in the heart of iconic destinations, to feel the pull of a nostalgic getaway while surrounded by today’s amenities and to find attentive service when they want it and privacy when they don’t. Initially we grew in coastal cities and resort destinations in the northeast of the United States through both management contracts and select joint venture partnerships. We are now moving into other iconic locations across the United States. By leveraging the success of our existing collection of design driven boutique properties in iconic locations we will replicate this model consistently, but with a nod to each property’s individuality. Central to Lark’s success as managers and developers is our core team of hospitality, design and marketing veterans. With experience working with properties from 9-99 rooms, our team has worked together on many significant inn, hotel and resort projects throughout the United States.

Want to know what’s behind all the awards and recognition?Lark Hotels?has been getting recently for their creativity and guest experience??(7 Michelin Keys, Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice, and the list goes on…) I got a chance to see this in action while listening to founders Megan Kennedy and Robert Blood reflect on their California road trip this week. When we sat down together at the Independent Lodging Congress this week, their creative process came alive through stories of challenges turned into opportunities. It wasn't about theories or trends but about experiencing problems firsthand and immediately working on solutions. Fun fact: Looking at the stats from more than 700 episodes of Hospitality Daily so far, my?conversations with Meg and Rob?consistently rank in the top 10 most popular—above some of the biggest names in our industry ?? I think it's because they teach us something essential - and that’s what we’re doing to learn about today as we hear them reflect on their recent road trip to Northern California: ?? Listen to the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts ?? Watch our conversation on the Hospitality Daily YouTube channel The big idea: The most effective hospitality innovation comes from leaders who regularly put themselves in their guests' shoes, experiencing both pain points and possibilities firsthand. Some takeaways from this conversation... 1) Strategic Constraints Drive Innovation: Rob & Meg’s trip had specific parameters: it was budget-focused, they were traveling with a diabetic 4-year-old, and celebrating an anniversary. These constraints forced creative problem-solving and revealed market gaps they could fill. 2) Research Through Experience: They tested different property types and service models: ??Stayed at value-focused Calistoga Motor Lodge ??Used ResortPass to access luxury amenities at Stanley Ranch ??Experienced the challenges of finding appropriate room configurations 3) Solutions From Pain Points: Each challenge they had led to potential solutions and business opportunities: ??Extended Stay reimagined as "comfortable places for families" ??Partnership opportunities between amenity-light and full-service properties ??Room configurations and amenities for families ??ResortPass integration as a value-add rather than competition Why This Matters: It’s one thing to be “creative” - it’s another to ensure that creativity leads to delighting guests?and?making money. By experiencing travel challenges firsthand, Meg and Rob identify opportunities others miss and create solutions that address real needs rather than perceived ones. Listen to the conversation here: https://lnkd.in/g6r2CPgD ?? If you learned something here, repost it with your thoughts to help someone else! ?? And if you're new here, I'm Josiah Mackenzie, and I invite you to follow this page (Hospitality Daily) for more stories like this I share each day ?? In the Lark-Light this week is Chelsea Hess, Talent Acquisition Specialist for Lark! With a journey in hospitality beginning at the age of 16, Chelsea has worked in countless guest-facing roles including front desk agent, taxi driver, hostess, door attendant, and ferry terminal agent to name a few. Her career path led to management roles at companies specializing in catering and cleaning in, addition to an ownership role of a reservation company. Lucky for us, Chelsea was looking for a change and joined our flock in August 2023 (a special shoutout to Leah Jampel Hassell, our Manager of Administration, who encouraged Chelsea to take the leap to Lark). Since Chelsea began her role with us, she has become our resident expert on the J1 and H2B visa programs, an aspect of our business that is vital to the operational success of many Lark locations. Those who join us through these programs have an incredible impact on the experience of our guests. We’re fortunate to work with a diverse group of team members year after year– and we’re fortunate to have Chelsea supporting these efforts! #OnaLark

In the Lark-Light this week is Hollie Greene, Marketing Manager for Lark! Hollie joined our team as a Marketing Coordinator in November 2020, coming to us from the education sector where she helped students discover the world through study abroad programming. Though Hollie’s first role in hospitality began with Lark, it was her previous role that helped build upon her foundational marketing, people and storytelling skills to prepare her for a career change to hospitality! Hollie’s passion for her craft shines daily across our Lark portfolio, and is felt by our teams both within and outside of our boutique properties. With each of our properties offering a unique story to tell, Hollie finds that her passion grows by the day at the possibilities of discovering ways to reach and share those unique stories with our guests. #OnaLark

In the Lark-Light this week is Samantha Massie, Human Resources Generalist for us at Lark! Samantha joined our team in September 2023 after she and her husband made the move from Boston, where they had spent the last five years, to New Hampshire for a change of pace and scenery. Having worked for a hospitality management company previously, Samantha’s experience in multiple roles (as well as a true passion for the hotel industry) made Lark and the role of HR Generalist a natural fit for her. Within her role, Samantha supports HR administrative tasks for 25 properties. The importance of creating memorable experiences for our guests is paramount. That same drive is at the core of the journey we aim to create for our team members. Samantha, along with the rest of our HR team, are guided daily by this important responsibility, focusing on the humans that make the work we do possible. #OnaLark

In the Lark-Light this week is Tristan Centeno, Room Attendant at Blind Tiger Asheville in Asheville, NC! Like several other Lark-Light team members, Tristan shares the experience of having worked at the property prior to its future renovation and rebrand.? While his home property was undergoing renovations, he headed just down the parkway, and joined the Asheville River Cabins team in Arden, NC to bring his expertise and support to the location’s operations. His energy and passion for hospitality were apparent and felt immediately, radiating to his fellow team members and Asheville River Cabin's guests. Having worked in big box hotels previously, Tristan’s experience furthered his love of the boutique hotel experience, making him a perfect fit for our Blind Tiger crew! Tristan’s excellent eye for detail, and consistent drive to go above and beyond are some of the many reasons why he is vital part of the experience of our Blind Tiger Asheville guests and team– we couldn’t imagine it any other way. #OnaLark
