?? ??? Don't Be Lazy. ?? ??? ?? ?? ?? Started the day off working with a client to identify and remove some old security systems. During a site visit, I discovered an old Intellex Box and monitor that was still powered up even though the system had been updated to IP years ago. After several attempts to have it removed by the integrator, we decided to take matters into our own hands.?? ?? ?? The integrator only had to ask the client if they wanted the old equipment removed when the system was converted to IP several years ago. FYI, unplugging, disconnecting, and removing the old hardware took less than 30 minutes. ?? #security #consulting #securitysolutions

One of the things I love most about consulting is that every day may provide a new challenge, project, or partnership. It's only Thursday, and so far, I have conducted a school assessment, a safety captain training class, project managed a distribution services equipment upgrade, picked up two new clients, and developed a collaborative partnership to expand our consulting service offering. Architects love glass, from building entrances to offices and large gathering spaces. I get it; glass provides a feeling of openness and natural lighting. However, it creates a challenging environment to protect and retrofit after construction. One hundred percent of the schools I assess with glass or open areas do not meet the criteria of creating a safe space in the event of an active threat, and the cost of retrofitting may be prohibitive as schools struggle to find funding. The best solution is to include security in the conversations, assess the location, provide securable interior spaces, and review state-related security and safety recommendations for schools.
