Great work from JGC Engineering and Technical Services Ltd working in partnership with NRS Dounreay.
A team from the Dounreay Fuel Cycle Area, working alongside JGC Engineering and Technical Services Ltd, reached the milestone target of installing an upgraded air handling unit. The unit is needed for the next stage of decommissioning. Project manager, Ewen said: “This has been a great example of Dounreay and the local supply chain collaborating on an engineering project to provide compliant solutions while demonstrating delivery capability to stakeholders.” #SupplyChain #Collaboration #Teamwork

Going Underground! ? Langfields recently completed a project that was a little bit different from our usual work, this project was executed 1,100 meters below ground to help Boulby Underground Laboratory with their plans to expand and host world leading dark matter detection projects.? ? With the laboratory being located within Boulby Mine, there were numerous design factors which needed considering before any work could commence. The main ones being, transporting the materials down and through the mine to the final build location, space within the underground laboratory during manufacturing whilst maintaining sufficient ventilation during manufacture and welding. ? Langfields worked in collaboration with key stakeholders throughout the design, pre-manufacture and final site installation to ensure the project would be a success with no stone left unturned. ? The team from Langfields completed pre-fabrication of the vessel in one of our dedicated clean manufacturing centres, packed and shipped the components to the mine, then completing the final manufacture and welding of the tank (pictured behind the group of people) on-site, down the mine.? ? Thank you to all at the lab and mine personnel for hosting the Langfields team, providing a glowing review whilst providing us the opportunity to work on such an interesting project.

Yesterday we gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone in the career of Dave Egan who has dedicated an astonishing 40 years to Langfields where Dave joins an elite group of employees with exceedingly long service. ? Dave joined the business from Matthew and Yates in 1984 as a Sheet Metalworker / Fabricator quickly establishing himself within the business as a man who was dedicated to his trade,?being meticulous with very high standards.? ? Within the first 5 years, Dave became chargehand for the Fabricators at Salford, amongst his duties responsible for leading and mentoring apprentices, of which there have been many!?In 2008 Dave became Workshop Manager at Salford, under his guidance numerous projects were executed on schedule and to the high standards that were expected. ? Dave ran the workshop for 12 years, where he became involved in HSE implementation and was responsible for the accreditation of ISO 14001 & 45001. In 2020 Dave took up the role as Langfields HSE Group Manager, where he is affectionately?known as Dangerous Dave!! ? We celebrate an extraordinary achievement, thank you Dave for all your dedication, and expertise over the decades.?This year has been a particularly difficult year for Dave personally. ? We are all extremely pleased Dave has made a full recovery and is back with us for many years to come.?Thank you Mr Egan for your continued dedication and commitment.
