As a Traditional Neighborhood Development, Stephens Valley gradual transformation over the last eight years is a part of what makes it special to call?Home. Soon the highly anticipated work on Stephens Valley Downtown will commence bringing additional amenities and access to commercial vendors within walking distance of its residents and the surrounding subdivisions, further enhancing their daily lifestyles. This does not come easily and requires passionate vision and extensive coordination intertwining single-family, multi-family, and mixed-use areas. It is an art and a science to bring together, but more importantly, in today’s market driven environment, it takes intentionality and perseverance to do correctly. Placing emphasis in the details and not being afraid to make continued improvements has already allowed the community to flourish and standout amongst others. Now, we are looking forward to the next stage elevating “community development."

I recently had the pleasure to spending time with Len Serafino as he captured the remarkable activity occurring within the Town of Nolensville. Bringing new urbanism based town building to the heart of suburban sprawl is forging an exciting new frontier. None of which would be possible without our development partner Rochford Realty and Construction and our incredible builders.

We recently had the privilege of exploring both exemplary developments and those that just meet the bare minimum with the City of Huntsville Planning staff. The purpose? To understand what’s working well and what additional standards we need to incorporate, all with the goal of building better communities. We spent time evaluating challenges they have recently faced, while visiting some of our built work and other projects around the greater Nashville area that closely meet the intent of what we are planning. Key takeaways: - The importance of considering long term impact when planning communities - How the detail of good design lives on well past the design and construction phase - Creative solutions can meet the requirements of fire safety while providing excellent placemaking A huge thank you to the city staff for taking the time to share their experiences and starting the conversation about how we can create communities that have enduring character in North Alabama.

EXCITING NEWS: We are thrilled to announce our expansion into Decatur, AL. Over the last 4.5 years we've been working with a family that embodies the idea of Connecting Land, Life, and Legacy. We look forward to sharing more information soon. In the meantime, we've included some history on Decatur, Al that has inspired a unique, new urbanist, neighborhood center development. #townbuilding Enjoy... Decatur, AL developed over time as a patchwork of neighborhoods that grew and merged around key institutions and industries. These individual neighborhoods all had their own sense of identity, typically centered around a cluster of businesses, or even open spaces, that formed their neighborhood center. Like many other cities across the country, these neighborhood centers have fallen by the wayside for new developments, replaced by strip malls and separated uses. Reintroducing the neighborhood center is key to building strong communities since these places serve as key gathering places where neighbors get to know one another, provide opportunities for local economies to thrive, and allow for a variety of housing types to allow families to move within their neighborhood when housing needs change.?

It's not everyday a project makes this type of impact. Congratulations Huntsville on becoming the 27th largest city in the U.S. We can't wait to share more about what's coming. Our collective team's goal (development team, land partner, City, consultants) from day one has been to create the "flag ship" of West Huntsville. Here we go!
