??Jodi Driedger invited the owner (Mason Hills) and Office Manager (Paulina Bonilla) of LandGreen Landscaping Inc. to speak to North Carolina State University students about the essentials of starting a landscaping business. These students gained valuable real-world insights into landscaping industry trends, best practices, and challenges. ??The presentation was an engaging learning experience for these students by testing their knowledge throughout the presentation. The students who answered correctly received a beautiful and festive poinsettia! ???As proud NCSU alumni, Mason and Paulina appreciated the opportunity to share their landscaping knowledge and experiences with the Landscape Design Build students. ???Happy Veterans Day!??? We want to spotlight a special employee on this Veteran’s Day. Our Landscape Crew Leader, Eric, wants to share his story, advice for veterans transitioning to civilian careers, and how his military experience has impacted his career at LandGreen Landscaping Inc. Can you share a little about your time in the military and the role you served in? Eric: “I served as a corporal in the Marine Corps as a marksman/observer on the special reaction team (SRT). The SRT's goal was to respond to high-risk incidents that normal military police were not trained to handle.” What is one of the most rewarding experiences while serving?? Eric: “I believe the most rewarding part of my job was actually being able to help people and actually being able to see the positive impact I had made on their lives.” What advice would you give to other veterans transitioning into civilian careers? Eric: “My advice to other veterans entering the civilian world is to find a career they love and stick with it. Another piece of advice I have is to find a good group of friends that supports and helps you in your transition.” What do you understand are some of the key strengths that you bring to your team at LandGreen Landscaping Inc. because of your time in the military? Eric: “My military background has equipped me with a strong work ethic, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues and clients at LandGreen Landscaping Inc. My experience has also helped me manage teams effectively while making split-second decisions that keep the job running smoothly.” Thank you to all who served our country! #VeteransDay #HonoringOurHeroes #MilitaryAppreciation #Landscaping #EmployeeSpotlight

At LandGreen Landscaping Inc., we love to see our team grow!?? Read more about it below?? ??Our Owner (Mason Hills) and Office Manager (Paulina Bonilla) attended the Total Business Breakthrough event created by Joe Novara. They learned about diverse topics such as improving sales by identifying ideal clients, establishing an effective follow-up system, intentional networking strategies, and advice from other business owners from North Carolina. ??Mason was one of two people selected from the group to participate in a live “Hot Seat Coaching” session. It allowed him to share his business story, challenges, and goals with the group. Afterward, Joe developed an action plan with achievable steps to elevate the business. ??After Mason completed the “Hot Seat Coaching” at the event, a current maintenance client was within the group of business owners. She voluntarily provided a live testimonial highlighting Mason’s knowledge and his excellent maintenance team! ??A big thanks to Moses Chung, one of the speakers on the financial panel, for inviting us to this event. #totalbusinessbreakthrough #professionaldevelopment #landscaping #smallbusiness

??This year LandGreen Landscaping Inc. achieved a significant milestone. We expanded our operations to include a dedicated landscaping and maintenance crew of four full-time employees. Additionally, we established a full office team, complete with an office manager and assistant. ?? As we navigate this expansion, we have learned that the following factors are essential to building high-performing teams: ?Communication: Early in the onboarding process we let employees know that we highly value communication. This approach has been pivotal for employee retention. We educate new hires on the different communication channels available within our company and how to use them responsibly. Most importantly, we ensure that management leads by example. Setting this expectation early on has promoted a collaborative culture within our company where each employee knows they can share their concerns and ideas. ?Accountability: Each employee receives training and education on their job responsibilities. Once they fully understand their role, we empower them to be independent thinkers. We avoid micromanaging and educate them when they make mistakes rather than scolding them. This approach has developed them into proactive leaders who are accountable for their actions. ?Long-Term Investments: The key to the company's success is providing diverse opportunities for each employee to learn, grow, and develop. We strive to align these investment opportunities with our employees' needs and aspirations. We have achieved that by offering competitive pay, recognition for achievements, professional memberships, flexible working arrangements, engaging in team-building activities, offering education, and providing helpful feedback. By investing in our employees in different areas, we create a positive work environment where they grow personally and professionally.?
