We are a company founded by Christof Stork and Sissy Theisen with the goal of providing more reliable seismic data to our customers. We have several proprietary algorithms that help us do this, including machine learning technology called "GEARS" for use in noise removal on prestack land seismic data. We are a full service seismic processing company as well as providing consulting services for new seismic acquisition. By using advanced algorithms for noise identification and removal we plan to change noise removal on land seismic data from an art to a science. The benefits of this deterministic methodology include much improved high and low frequencies and near and far offsets in the seismic data leading to improved reliability of attributes, shortening of the processing cycle time, and more interpretable seismic volumes. Additionally, by characterizing the noise that is likely to be present on new acquisition, we can change the design - at little or no additional cost - to eliminate noise and also to make the noise more removable through the machine learning methods.

LSNS recently worked on a project where the final stack from the previous processing job had a few areas that needed improvement. As the processor went through testing of different processes and algorithms they were able to make small differences with each test but we were concerned that there would not be a huge uplift on the final product. But, when the end result was shown it turned out that the collection of dozens of small decisions that were made along the way combined to make for a significant improvement. That was gratifying, and another example of how in land processing the details matter.
“So, why do you call yourselves Land Seismic Noise Specialists?” This question was posed to me the other day and it got me thinking about why ‘Noise Specialists’!? ? -?We have over 200 years of combined land processing experience, so we are specialists.? -?Christof Stork’s work in describing the near surface highlights that signal distortion and noise are far more complex than traditional statics and surface consistent processing can account for which is why we have our WERS and FWC processes to address these challenges. -?We understand how to significantly improve efficiency and data quality of acquisition using SOLA and Optimized phase arrays – tackling the noise at its source, in the field. -?Edward Jenner’s updated azimuthal velocity tools are designed to work better on noisy onshore data. -?Our project management systems are specifically tailored to the challenges of land processing. Our name describes what we do.
