We’re excited to share that Mandi Fung, PLA and Scott Archer have been elevated to the position of Principal, broadening the leadership of Land Collective! In 2013, DAVID RUBIN Land Collective was formed around a mission of empathy, to problem solve on behalf of our clients and their constituents. In the years that followed, we have been rewarded with extraordinary commissions focused on accessible landscapes both planned and designed, and in particular, culturally sensitive sites with extraordinary narratives to be shared.?The studio is dedicated to crafting landscapes that create positive change through cross-disciplinary collaborations and the synthesis of art, technology and the social sciences to create human-centered works. It is an appreciation for empathy that drives the studio’s design process, and the collective consciousness of varied perspectives elevates landscape to the highest ideals. With the addition of Mandi’s and Scott’s talents leading the practice, Land Collective is living by its goals to inform our work from many complementary points of view. Mandi’s and Scott’s new roles reinforce a brilliant future for the practice. Their intellectual rigor and joyful demeanors represent us all well. Our hearty congratulations to them both!

DAVID RUBIN Land Collective is driven by design empathy and emphasizes holistically-sustainable principles, with social sustainability leading the design effort. Life is what happens between buildings. Since a successful space is one that’s well attended, the success of our design depends on how people engage each other in it, no matter what the scale. It is in the context of connective tissue that DAVID RUBIN Land Collective works as a design firm, using the disciplines of landscape architecture and urban design to bring people together in a positive dialogue. Our work spans ecological and regional systems, urban districts, campuses, civic parks, plazas, and intimate spaces. The name LAND COLLECTIVE derives from the understanding that innovation is achieved through collaboration and that demonstrable leadership and the synthesis of multiple disciplines result in design excellence. Landscape requires a spectrum of thoughtful ideas in order to be successfully rendered. This collective consciousness is necessary to lift landscape to the highest ideals.

What a special honor to spend this morning with celebrated landscape architect, David Rubin, FASLA, FAAR, designer of Franklin Park, the beautifully renovated fountain park in downtown Washington, DC. In preparation for ASLA's NEH-funded Landmarks workshop for K-12 educators, I am touring outdoor spaces that will be featured as part of our programming. Sites were chosen based on their unique connections to humanities education. Franklin Park is history, culture, anthropology, the arts, and more much. It is simply STEM-tastic! The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) has announced that DAVID RUBIN Land Collective has been selected to lead the redesign of Pennsylvania Avenue. The project aims to transform the historic thoroughfare into a vibrant public space, enhancing its role for cultural gatherings and national celebrations. This initiative seeks to replace the outdated 1974 plan and revitalize the avenue for the future. Jaffe Holden will be providing acoustic design services in collaboration with Land Collective, HR&A Advisors, Beyer Blinder Belle, VHB, and Thornton Tomasetti.
