Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) team members at Women & Babies Hospital are amazing advocates for our patients and families. When they learned about the AngelEye Camera System--technology would allow parents to connect with their baby and communicate with our hospital staff 24/7--they approached the LG Health Foundation. Thanks to generous lead funding from The Superhero Project INC which helps NICUs across the country, we’re one step closer to bringing this transformative technology to our NICU families.

University of Pennsylvania sophomore Emily Whitehead spoke at the Stand Up for Science rally in Washington, DC on Friday, as part of a call to preserve federal funding for biomedical research. In 2012, she became the first child treated with CAR T cell therapy, a treatment developed at Penn Medicine that engineers the immune system to fight cancer. "Without the funding that went into the research that created CAR T cell therapy, I wouldn’t be here today,” she told CNN's Jake Tapper. The then-experimental therapy cured her leukemia and has since revolutionized treatment for thousands of patients with blood cancers around the world.

"Cole Livingston is more than an excellent nurse. He is an angel here on Earth who my mom was blessed to have watch over her." A patient’s daughter shared these heartfelt words about the Lancaster General Hospital nurse who cared for her mother during her last days of life. In nominating Cole for a The DAISY Foundation Award for extraordinary nursing, she went on to say: "My mom adored Cole and was so happy to know it was him that would be with her. Staying overnight allowed me to have the privilege of witnessing the care Cole provided. He truly showed he cared about my mom's well-being. He made sure she had what she needed, as well as asked me if there was anything I needed. When my mom made the decision to become DNR and simply receive pain medication, Cole was there every hour on the hour to administer her medication. He was unbelievably respectful and made sure my family had complete privacy. We could not have wished for a more compassionate, engaging, committed nurse. For the rest of our lives, my family will never forget Cole and all he did for my mom."
