Yesterday, our office hosted a group of 8th graders from Lux Middle School (Lincoln Public Schools) with the help of Junior Achievement of Lincoln. Students heard from County Attorney Patrick Condon; talked with District Court Judge Post in his courtroom; and the highlight – met Barney, Lancaster County, Nebraska's therapy dog!

Prof. Jessica Murphy is a talented litigator who tried extremely complex cases as a prosecutor. She now leads the University of Nebraska College of Law's Criminal Clinic, equipping the next generations of trial attorneys. We are incredibly proud of our partnership with the Nebraska College of Law to provide this unique learning opportunity.

Ryan Brown (our Law Clerk Program Director) joined Kyle Jedlicka and Madison Schall (two of our amazing 2L Law Clerks) to talk about opportunities in the office to work with some of the best litigators in Nebraska!

This week, Deputy County Attorneys Tara Parpart and Renae Musekamp presented at a cross-disciplinary training on domestic violence response. BraveBe Child Advocacy Center collaborated with professionals across the community to improve the effectiveness in addressing domestic violence. Our office was happy to be a part of the conversation alongside other experts from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln Police Department, Bryan Health, CHI, Nebraska Judicial Branch, Voices of Hope, and Friendship Home!

Deputy County Attorney Renae Musekamp presented at the University of Nebraska College of Law & the Equal Justice Society's 13th annual Justice Jam on Friday to answer the question "why I fight for justice." Renae discussed her work in holding domestic violence perpetrators accountable and supporting victims.

Yesterday, some of our attorneys and law clerks spoke to 1st year?law students about the work our office does at University of Nebraska College of Law's "Meet the Employer Monday" event. Looking forward to seeing some of the same students at our on-campus interviews next semester!

Yesterday, our law clerk Madison Schall, finished a Proposed Order for the District Court on a convicted murderer’s DNA Testing Act request; attended a pretrial motions hearing on a Felon in Possession of a Firearm case that she wrote the successful suppression brief on; and came in 1st place in our “The Great Clerk Bake Off” cupcake competition.?A busy and productive day overall. Great work, Madison!

Deputy County Attorney Renae Musekamp will be speaking next Friday at the University of Nebraska College of Law’s Justice Jam 2024. We are excited to participate in a collaborative conversation about the fight for Justice! Hope to see you there!

Congratulations to our own Alaina Henzel on being honored with the July 2024 Commissioners' Award of Excellence. Alaina is an extremely valued team member that is always willing to assist others while expertly maintaining her own workload. Such deserved recognition!
