We were so happy to help celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Meadows Psychiatric Center! Offering mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults, The Meadows is a resource for high-quality treatment in a nurturing and structured environment. 关于我们
Each year, millions of people experience difficulties with behavioral health. If these problems persist, they can affect relationships, performance at work or school or even the ability to complete everyday tasks and functions. If you or a loved one is struggling and in need of behavioral health services, Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital will be opening in July 2018 to provide treatment, resources and support. Through a partnership between Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Universal Health Services, we will provide inpatient and outpatient services for patients living with mental illness.

We are proud to celebrate our two Employees of the Month for September! Jeremy, BHA, and Chastity, Food Service Worker, both routinely go above and beyond to make a difference for our patients and their fellow staff members. Jeremy exemplifies respect, empathy, and kindness. He’s intentional with his therapeutic communication skills and ensures each patient interaction counts! A strong collaborator, Jeremy makes his teammates feel lucky to work alongside him. Chastity is a ray of light in the kitchen. She shows up with a positive attitude each day and helps to create a fun environment for the patients and staff. A reliable coworker, we can always count on Chastity to assist by picking up extra shifts or shifting her schedule as needed. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to the hospital! We appreciate you!

Our September Staff Appreciation Event was a celebration of Fall. Staff were invited to gather as we recognized the hard work and commitment they demonstrate every day. The event was moved indoors due to inclement weather, but we still enjoyed hot dogs, nachos, soft pretzels, ice cream, and games in the gym. Thank you to everyone who helped put this event together!

As part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, our patients and staff were invited to help spread awareness of the impacts of suicide by decorating a semicolon. Project Semicolon was started by Amy Bleuel in 2013 to symbolize where an author could have ended a sentence but didn’t. "That author is you, and the sentence is your life." If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides free 24/7 connection to confidential support from trained professionals. There is hope. Just call or text 988, or start a chat at 988lifeline.org.

Luke, Community Relations Rep, recently participated in an interactive tabling event at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. The goal of the event was to help students learn how to prioritize their mental well-being. Students also learned about warning signs to be aware of with their peers, and how to access help if they notice concerning behaviors.

For the month of August, the Trauma Informed Care Committee and the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee focused on the theme of trust. For this installation, each suite in the hospital was invited to collaborate in groups to create album cover art collages with song lists that correlate with the theme of trust. At the end of the session, each group decided what music genre their album would represent, discussed the dynamics of how their group demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness while creating their album, and how each album showcases the qualities of trustworthiness. A big shout-out to our employees for creating such an innovative outlet for our patients!

Sending a big congratulations to our August Employees of the Month, HIM Coder, Danielle H. (left), and RN, Jess R. who help our hospital run efficiently every single day! Jess continuously goes above and beyond. She’s quick to think on her feet and prides herself on meaningful relationships with our patients. Thriving at verbal de-escalation, she’s a strong partner who excels in collaborations with all departments across LBHH. Danielle’s helpfulness and kind heart go a long way with her peers. Some of her strongest abilities include working independently and producing high quality work. She’s always willing to jump in and help where needed while managing her time impeccably. Thank you, both, for going above and beyond and congratulations once again!

Safety is our number one priority! Our job is to keep the individuals in our care safe, as well as keep our staff safe. We are extremely fortunate to have many Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation trainers among our staff. We recently added to those numbers, as the staff shown below attended the regional Train the Trainer Certification. Please offer a huge round of congratulations to these individuals on becoming instructors!
