The Louisiana State Medical Society is a voluntary association of physicians providing leadership for the advancement of the health of the people of Louisiana and serving as the premier advocate for physicians. The LSMS is dedicated to support the physicians of Louisiana in continually improving the provision of quality health care for its citizens by: ? Advocating: we work with local, state and federal elected officials to promote legislation which preserves the rights of physicians to practice medicine, while maintaining high standards of care. ? Educating: we provide the necessary information to allow members to meet continuing educational needs, stay ahead of current trends, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their practices.; ? Communicating: we plan, execute and market the LSMS brand messages to attract, create and retain member relationships. The U.S. Department of Education is changing the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) process to enhance borrower experience. Starting this spring, the PSLF Program will transition to ED via StudentAid.gov, temporarily pausing processing from May to July 2024. Don't worry, you can still submit PSLF forms, but processing and payment count updates will resume after the pause.
