Be boldly kind. ?? That was a message for our Hopewell Heroes last week when Bethany Van Meter and River came to visit. ?? Bethany is the author of a series of books about River, her rescue dog whose eyes had to be removed for health reasons after he was found wandering in Texas. The message shared was loud and clear: be kind to everyone. ?? WE think River fits right in with our Heroes! Check out the story from WKRC about River's visit to Hopewell ?? https://trst.in/KIqVqh

Our youngest learners LOVED learning about community helpers recently. Lakota's preschoolers learned all about firefighters, policemen, farmers, construction workers and more. One of the highlights were the creative activities associated with each profession, like using toothbrushes like erasers to brush away germs on teeth! There were a lot of "me too" hand signals flying (IYKYK) between students in Mrs. Parker's and Mrs. Edwards's classes and this recent visitor to Shawnee ECS. That's because many of the same things this small business owner does...they have done too! ???? We're talking the whole supply chain: planning, purchasing, production, advertising and sales! The special visitor from 5??0?? Flavors Fudge visited just after the classes wrapped up their economics unit ???, which culminated with a full blown "Parker Mart" and "E-Mart" where students set up shop and sold the items they'd brought to market. How cool is that?? #WEareLakota #RealWorldLearning

Oftentimes, our students use VR to explore new places...outerspace ????, a mountain range??, the ocean??... Third graders at Union Elementary used the school's VR goggles a little differently: As they explored various scenes, they had to pick out different kinds of matter (solid, liquid and gas)! #WEareLakota #WEareFutureReady #VRgoggles #science #PublicEducation
