We concluded our third annual Lakota AI Code Camp last Friday and we can't believe how fast the time flew by! Our students learned: * The basics of #python and #data_science by completing an analysis of musical popularity with Spotify data * How to collect and clean #data on their way to training their own #machine_learning models to identify local, culturally important plants * How to write their own #webapps using #gradio and #huggingface! Our students continue to amaze us with their capabilities, their engagement, and their personal growth. Hard to believe we're almost done with day three! Our students are learning both code AND culture. Every morning, we kick off with a stand-up meeting, asking our daily questions in Lakota. We kicked off the first day of the 2024 Lakota AI Code Camp yesterday. This year we have 15 participants, with 7 returning from previous years. These students will spend the next three weeks learning how to create AI tools that can strengthen our communities and culture. #laicc2024?#futuretechnologists

IndigiGenius is excited for the inaugural T3PD AI Code Camp taking place Summer 2024! The Teach the Teachers Professional Development (T3PD) AI Code Camp is a three-week long summer program for students ages 18-20 where they gain hands-on experience developing personalized mobile apps using industry standard software engineering practices, computer science, deep learning, and extended reality incorporating Indigenous knowledge and methods.?? The T3PD AICC aims to inspire students to pursue pathways into higher education and careers in advanced technology fields and connect them with Indigenous educators working in these fields. Camp Dates: July 21-August 9, 2024 Location: South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Rapid City, South Dakota? Lodging: SDSM&T Dormitories? Instruction: Students will participate in both outdoor and in-class structured learning environments.
