2025 is Lakeshore Habitat's 35th year of operations! Since we opened in 1990, we have provided homes for 175 families, which includes 724 people – 253 adults and 471 children, and affordably repaired homes for countless families. Habitat for Humanity facilitates affordable homeownership for hard-working low income families who are not able to secure typical mortgages and who live in substandard, overcrowded, and unsafe housing. Habitat builds new homes and restores older homes in stable neighborhoods for these families offering a 'hand up' and a secure environment for their children to blossom. Lakeshore Habitat is the local affiliate of Habitat International located in western Michigan and supports the Holland, Allegan, Fennville, Saugatuck, Hudsonville, and Zeeland cities and nearby areas. Each Habitat office has a skeleton staff serving both full and part time with hundreds of volunteers. Consider joining us as a volunteer to make a difference for a family in your community.

Last week, Araceli closed on her home, making her Lakeshore Habitat's 175th homeowner! Lakeshore Habitat built its first home in the early 1990’s and has continued to build affordable housing for families in Ottawa and Allegan counties since. Reaching 175 affordable home builds is a significant milestone for Lakeshore Habitat and for our community, representing 724 people – 253 adults and 471 children – who have experienced the safety, stability, and security that come from homeownership. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue to provide affordable homeownership to Araceli and other families in our community for years to come.
