We're so proud of our farm team for all their hard work to reduce the environmental impact of cultivation! ?? #LakeChamplain #ChamplainIslands
Our industry needs to do better! ??vs. ?? According to Hemp Gazette, a recent paper published in the journal One Earth by Cell Press reports that total US production of cannabis (both legal and illicit) produces the equivalent CO2 emissions as "6 million homes or on par with that of all other crop production. It represents 1% of total national emissions from all sectors of the USA’s economy and an annual energy expenditure of USD $11 billion." We believe that plants should be grown in living soil under that sun and we have undergone the steps to become Climate Neutral Certified by The Change Climate Project. Other Vermont farms have obtained Sun+Earth Certified and we applaud their efforts! We sincerely hope that more Vermont cannabis farms will take steps to reduce their reliance on costly artificial lighting, invest in renewable energy sources, and cut their CO2 emissions. We don't mean to be dramatic here, but the fate of our planet requires it. ????
