We are less than two weeks away from the Women in Support of Girls Education Luncheon.? I begin where I will end:? How will you show up for the next generation of girls and non-binary students? With everything going on in the world, I am reminded of what my mother told me all my life to do:? Take up all the spaces you want to be in, and when they tell you you’re too big, be bigger! Shirley always taught my sister and me that we are worthy–that we can not shrink ourselves to make others feel good about themselves.? That we deserve what we work for and that we should open doors, not just for ourselves, but for those who come after us.? That it’s not enough to walk through the door– you have to leave it open. She was teaching us how to transcend the world that was being handed to us, and she was teaching us how, in so many ways, to be our own superhero! At L-Dub, our mission is to empower our students to be strong in mind, body, and voice.? We are instilling in our students the habits of head, the habits of hand, and the habits of heart – the principles of a feminist education.? It's about creating spaces where they can see themselves reflected, where they can do hard things, and where they can explore the world around them. L-Dub will be hosting a Girls Who Tech Pitch Weekend on February 9th - 11th, 2024 at our campus located in North Beacon Hill. During this weekend, girls in grades 5-8 from a wide range of public and private institutions, will work to create and present innovative ideas with the guidance of mentors excelling in their fields. We are currently looking for mentors, excelling in their fields, to work with girls on STEAM projects throughout the weekend. Our goal with Girls Who Tech is to create an environment where passionate, driven, and like-minded field experts can come together to mentor youth, learn, network, and help showcase students’ potential.
