Today is Give to the Max Day, the biggest one-day giving event in Minnesota! The Lake Street Council has worked hard these past few years to support the small businesses that call Lake Street home, and to uplift the stories and vibrancy of this incredible street. Lake Street is home to a lot of things - the best food in Minneapolis, the most incredible murals and art, and a melting pot of culture and community. But more than anything, Lake Street is the beating heart of South Minneapolis, and a place where everyone can feel welcome and at home. We know there’s still work to do - and we’re excited to bring you along as we do it. I hope you’ll consider supporting the Lake Street Council as we move Lake Street forward with a donation for Give to the Max Day today. https://lnkd.in/eyy_ZJc #GTMD24 GiveMN

Lake Street Council receives nearly $1 million from Bush Foundation We’re excited to share that the Bush Foundation recently awarded us a significant grant! The $950,000 in funding will help us expand our efforts to connect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and immigrant entrepreneurs with clean energy opportunities. In the coming months and years, we’ll provide more direct technical assistance to help these small businesses explore and adopt clean energy opportunities. Our goal is to better reach underserved business owners so they have greater access to clean energy financing and support. This work will help save business owners money and better care for the environment. Stay tuned for more information!

As Lake Street continues to rebuild and recover, it’s important to ensure we are telling the community stories of this place that we all cherish. Supporting local creatives in making community art and activating spaces along the corridor helps us uplift the vibrancy, and the shared stories found on Lake Street. Lake Street Council is grateful to have been selected as a recipient of a Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Flexible Support grant, which will enable us to create opportunities for residents and visitors to Lake Street to engage in community building through art. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
