?????? ???????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ????????’?? ????????????. As a young girl, Ms. Williams watched her mother struggle to pay rent and provide for her and her sister. Determined to secure a better future, she found full-time work as a school bus driver in the early 1960s, a steady job that allowed her to be self-sufficient, though it didn’t leave room for large savings or retirement. Health issues eventually reduced her to part-time work, and she retired in her late 50s on Social Security Disability Insurance. After retirement, housing challenges mounted. Rising costs forced her out of apartment after apartment, and today, she relies on a $1,200 monthly Social Security check. After covering basic bills, medication, and food, rent is unaffordable. With no connections in less expensive areas, Ms. Williams now lives in her van with her dog, facing an uncertain winter and reflecting on how it came to this. Will you help welcome Ms. Williams to Kenmore? ????. ???????????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?? ???????? ????????????, ?????? ?????? ?????????? ????. ???????? ???? ???? ???????????????????? ?????????? ?????????? ???? ?????? ?????????????? ???????????? ??????????'?? ??????????????, ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????????? ??????????????'?? ???????? ?? ???????? ???? ?????? ??????????????. Our hearts go out to the community at the Lynnwood homeless encampment, who just lost one of their own due to the strong winds of the bomb cyclone that swept through Washington yesterday. Extreme weather conditions always affect the unsheltered the worst. If you would like to make a donation in honor of the unsheltered, please go to www.lakecitypartners.org #lynnwood #lynnwoodwa #bombcyclone

We are AMAZED by the incredible community response to the forthcoming Kenmore Senior Women's Shelter! Thank you so much, City of Kenmore, Nigel Herbig and more, we can hardly keep up with the offers to help us get this shelter ready before winter! We want to give a special shout out to Pacific Standard Janitorial, who came and cleaned the entire Kenmore shelter FOR FREE! They do not have a website or socials, just a hard-working group of people who are permitting us to share their contact info in case you need reliable cleaning services. PSJ has been a stalwart vendor for us at Aurora Oaks for years, and we cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, Pacific Standard Janitorial! email: [email protected] phone#:425 -791-2320 Owner: Silvia Depaz If you have professional services you'd also like to donate to help get senior women off the streets, please contact [email protected] #homeless #helpthehomeless #kenmore #kenmorewa

We are so grateful to be able to share this incredible story that not only showcases the resiliency of our clients but the agility of the partnerships we have built around us: M and her partner arrived at Aurora Oaks last winter, after being homeless for many years. Unfortunately, their relationship ended and her partner left the shelter. This was a challenging time for M, but she persevered and always remained positive. It was inspiring to see someone facing so many challenges and barriers always retain her sunny spirits. Finally, after several months, the Client Services team at LCP was able to connect M to permanent housing. Her application was complete and had final approval - she would finally have permanent housing. Tragically, the night before M was to sign her lease and move into the apartment, she was shot multiple times. She suffered serious injuries that required life-saving surgery. She survived and was able to return to the shelter. However, her new apartment would not meet her new needs around ADA access, as she was now a wheelchair user. M took this news in stride, and LCP set to work with our partners on finding a new apartment. 24 hours after leaving the hospital and returning to the shelter, we helped secure a new, ADA-accommodating unit that included a healthcare clinic on the ground floor to further support her. At LCP, we support clients through whatever is thrown at them. Step-by-step when their needs change, we change what we look for. We know we are getting someone a home, not just a place to stay. We were able to achieve this amazing outcome through our close partnerships with King County Regional Homelessness Authority, DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) and Compass Housing Alliance. We are grateful for all your fast and nimble support in getting M a home that meets all her needs. #community #partnership #disability

Can you help us get the new Kenmore Senior Women's Shelter ready in time before winter? Our goal is to get at least 5-8 elder women off the streets in December, but we need help to meet that deadline! If you're able to help clean and paint, please contact us. Thank goodness King County has offered to give us replacement carpets! Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11th, and the rates of national veteran homelessness are on the rise again, after a period of decline between 2010 and 2022. Between 2022 and 2023, HUD's AHAR report shows a 7% increase in veterans experiencing homelessness, with a 14% increase in the number of unsheltered veterans, and 3% rise in sheltered homelessness. We note in particular that black veterans are overrepresented in the 2023 count, making up 31% of the homeless veteran population while only being 12% of the overall veteran population. What practices have you found most useful when providing services to homeless veterans? Source: https://buff.ly/4ailujz #veteransday #homeless #community

We're grateful for the leadership of our executive director William Towey! Sharing his white paper analyzing the issues that are giving rise to senior homelessness. This paper helped lead to our new City of Kenmore Senior Women's Shelter! King County Regional Homelessness Authority #nonprofit #education #leadership
The new Lake City Partners Senior Women’s Shelter in Kenmore represents a pioneering effort to address the escalating crisis of homelessness among senior women. This paper provided insight, context, and analysis that was helpful in creating the project and securing the funding. It offers industry insights for other homelessness services providers who want to better inform their practices with a close look at current trends and future projections for this increasingly at-risk population. We are thrilled to have the support of King County, WA, King County Regional Homelessness Authority, the City of Kenmore, and many others for this exciting new shelter project. #homeless #homelessness #homelessnessawareness #volunteer #innovation #leadership
