Official non-profit partner of the LAFD dedicated to providing our firefighters with life-saving equipment & resources.

关于我们

Our Mission The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation provides vital equipment and funds critical programs to help the LAFD save lives and protect communities. Why We Exist Approximately 97% of the city’s budget for the LAFD goes towards personnel costs. This leaves just 3% to cover the cost of essential equipment, new technology, and training resources needed to keep our firefighters safe. The LAFD Foundation exists to bridge critical funding gaps by channeling corporate and philanthropic support into helping the LAFD respond to thousands of emergency calls and protect the City of Los Angeles. The LAFD Foundation is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization (27-2007326), which exceeds the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Standards, and is highly rated on Charity Navigator and GuideStar.

  • Valor 2024's Unit of the Year: Heavy Equipment Over the past year, the LAFD Heavy Equipment Unit was vital in combating mudslides, sinkholes, and disasters beyond the reach of standard apparatus. Led by Captain Rich Diede and part of the Wildland Fuel Management Unit, these dedicated firefighters work around the clock, utilizing specialized machinery—bulldozers, excavators, and even the RS3 robotic firefighting vehicle, the first of its kind in the U.S. When last year’s rains pummeled the Santa Monica Mountains, Captain Diede and his team distributed over 80,000 sandbags to safeguard vulnerable communities and cleared mud and debris to keep roads open for emergency responders. As we honor Heavy Equipment’s tireless efforts, we thank the LAFD Foundation donors who fund these vital resources. Your support empowers these heroic firefighters to protect LA in the toughest conditions.?
