关于我们
Our mission is to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. Since 1983, LAFH has grown to become the largest provider of affordable housing in the San Fernando Valley and a best practices provider of basic needs and homeless services throughout Greater Los Angeles. LAFH is a unique housing provider because its services and real estate development address the full continuum of care for homeless and low-income households, from temporary housing to permanent rental housing, all linked to supportive services. In total we own and operate 22 properties, including three shelters and 19 permanent affordable apartment buildings. In 2011, LAFH reached 3,518 children, parents and single adults through its multi-tiered supportive housing system. The agency maintains a 92% success rate in placing families in permanent, independent housing. Each year, our wraparound service and housing continuum helps more than 500 households transition from the streets to housing stability. By balancing housing costs with basic needs, offering supportive services to increase self-sufficiency, and preserving and increasing the stock of affordable housing in LA, our work helps to build neighborhood infrastructure and inject economic growth into low-income communities.

LAFH Staff Spotlight!? In the heart of Los Angeles, Ricardo Zuniga Flores serves as a Housing Stabilizer, dedicated to his role and the LAFH Scattered Stabilization Team. Born and raised in Pacoima, CA, Ricardo's path to LAFH is shaped by personal experience and a deep commitment to his community. Growing up in a single-parent household, his worldview was influenced by stories from his father’s childhood in Honduras and his struggles adapting to life in Sun Valley. "My dad’s resilience, from living in family garages to finding his footing in a new country, inspired me to pursue a career in social services," Ricardo shares. Driven by this inspiration, Ricardo pursued a degree in Psychology from UCLA to support others like his family. He began his career at the Sylmar Health and Rehabilitation Center, working with individuals facing bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. After two years, he returned to his hometown, joining LAFH in 2022. "I never imagined that my career would bring me back to Pacoima, allowing me to serve the community that shaped me," Ricardo reflects. "Placing a family into a home just down the street from where I grew up was a full-circle moment. It reminded me why I do this work — to give back to my neighborhood." Ricardo’s dedication to his community and his ongoing commitment to professional growth make him an invaluable part of our team and a true testament to the impact one person can have. We sincerely thank him for his outstanding work at LAFH. ?? ?
