Yesterday, LAEF got to attend a listening session hosted by KeyBank, one of LAEF's long-standing partners. What she learned: -KeyBank cares about our communities -KeyBank has donated billions of dollars to important causes including feeding our people, creating more affordable housing for Latinos, and investing in education -KeyBank has made meaningful changes including making sure non-English speakers have access to information in their native language -KeyBank is willing to show up in our communities. They already do. -They are open to feedback, and take ours seriously Thank you, KeyBank, for bringing us together, and giving us space to share and dream. There is magic inside every Latina. When we tap into the generational love from our ancestors and guides, we see the best in people. We see that we're all connected. We see what could be. There is power in remembering the magic we came from. There is power in showing up as ourselves every day. To my Alpfa Denver community, thank you for seeing me, and thank you to every Latina that is making an impact in her community. Felicidades a todas! Amigas, I see you. You're doing amazing. Keep it up, and rest well. Building For The Future: LAEF's Largest Scholarship Award in 75-Year History As we kick off the 2024-2025 academic year, LAEF is proud to announce this year's scholarship class of 121 returning and newly college-bound students across Colorado. Collectively LAEF is awarding $351,000! With many scholarships also being matched by partner universities, this is the largest award total in the Foundation's 75-year history. Of the 121 scholars, 81% are first-generation college going, and 31% of scholars represent rural Colorado. Students will be attending over 30 different colleges and universities across Colorado and nationally. Looking ahead, and building for the future, LAEF remains committed to opening new doors of possibility for deserving Latino students across Colorado. Over the next three years, LAEF will award $1.3 million in new scholarships. Adelante!
