  • The Lady Lake Police Department proudly welcomed James Dunagan and Allen Greene as our new Patrol Lieutenants! They were sworn in by Chief Steve Hunt during the Lady Lake Town Commission meeting last night. In their new roles, Lt. Dunagan and Lt. Greene will oversee the daily operations of our Patrol Division as Watch Commanders, each serving alternating shifts from noon to midnight. This new structure will enhance administrative oversight and provide additional leadership and guidance to our department. Lt. Dunagan began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the City of Leesburg, where he earned recognition for his investigative expertise and leadership in high-profile cases. A U.S. Army veteran, Lt. Dunagan has also served as a field training officer, CVSA examiner, and team leader for the Critical Incident Response Team. Lt. Greene's career in law enforcement began in 2002 with the City of Altamonte Springs. Over the years, he advanced through various roles, including Lieutenant in the Street Crimes/Narcotics Unit and Watch Commander overseeing patrol operations. Lt. Greene, a U.S. Army veteran, brings over 17 years of experience and leadership to the Lady Lake Police Department. Both of these outstanding officers bring invaluable experience and dedication to their new roles, and we’re excited to see the positive impact they’ll make on our community. Please join us in congratulating Lt. James Dunagan and Lt. Allen Greene on their new positions!

  • A chilly morning took a heartwarming turn when Lady Lake Police Sgt. Charles Gehrsitz stumbled upon a ruff situation—four tiny puppies huddled together in the woods, freezing. Thankfully, Lady Lake Officer Erica Hall rushed to the rescue, scooping up the shivering pups and doing her best to keep them warm until Lake County Animal Control could arrive. But the tail-wagging teamwork didn’t stop there! Officers from Fruitland Park Police Department pawsed what they were doing to lend a hand (and some cuddles), making sure these little furballs stayed cozy. Thanks to these doggone amazing officers, these pups are now safe and on their way to a brighter, warmer future at the Leesburg Humane Society.

  • PowerPoint presentation? Nope. Educational video? Not this time. Our Human Resources team is taking a more personal approach to employee wellness by bringing healthcare professionals directly to our workplace. This month's "Heart to Heart" session featured expert insights from Dr. Gary Allen, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in lung and heart disorders, and Dr. Vatsal Inamdar, a board-certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist from AdventHealth. These interactive sessions give our team members the chance to engage with top medical professionals, ask questions, and take proactive steps in managing their health. Because when it comes to wellness, we're all about connection—face-to-face and heart-to-heart.

The arrest took place at approximately 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Rolling Acres Road. Sgt.
