Camp Pendleton, July of 1969. My Dad was “voluntold” by his Dad, Lt Col Ferguson at the time, to attend Devil Pup Camp. A two week “hardening” course led by USMC drill instructors. My Dad is a very easy going, fun loving individual and this is something he would never have done if it wasn’t for his Dad. My favorite part of this picture is the pride of accomplishment you can see in his eyes. Facing difficult challenges is the key to self confidence and growth.
