I recently visited our Miller Digital Media client, Pure Glow?, at their stunning new Boston Seaport location and was blown away. Designed by Heitler Houstoun Architects, the space combines luxury design with cutting-edge airbrush tanning technology. Their organic, fragrance-free formula delivers the most natural, long-lasting glow—I expected it to be great, but the experience completely exceeded my expectations. Recently we kicked off construction on a project that has been several years in the making... We'd like to introduce ShareNYC, a small-scale development project with Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation and NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development. We see this project as an opportunity to showcase how we can sustainably add much needed affordable housing units to NYC's housing stock by re-utilizing and adapting existing buildings. In addition to that, this project presents an opportunity to pioneering a path for the legalization of shared housing in NYC. Our vision for Share NYC is to transform the existing three-story residential building into a highly livable shared housing development that provides tenants a safe, comfortable, and affordable place to live. By using an existing building with a modified shared housing building code, the project can be built at lower costs than traditional new construction units. Additionally, the #AdaptiveReuse of the building, helps maintain the neighborhood fabric and avoids disruptive large-scale development. Before & After: Vuori's first #Nashville location was much more than an interior fit out. The stand alone building had been vacant for some time and had seen better days. Our goal was to make the space more usable by adding steel structure to open up the main sales floor. There were a series of dark rooms at the back of the space that were combined and reimagined into the fit lounge. We brought in natural light via new skylights and added some warmer materials and furnishings to the concrete shell. Many shops in the area have painted facades and large scale signage, so a mural was commissioned here to bring Vuori to #MusicCity in a unique way. #retaildesign #interiors #architecture

This warm weather has us thinking about the perfect #outdoor space and reflecting on a few past projects. Whether the space is urban or rural, expansive or cozy, East Coast, West Coast, or somewhere in between, we always start with these design considerations:?? ??- Identify zones for different uses, i.e. entertaining vs. curling up with a good book - Sunlight, shade and artificial lighting ??- Hardscape (paving) vs softscape (plantings) ??- Aesthetics, color, and scale We focus on designing beautiful and practical spaces tailored to our client's needs by incorporating natural materials that bridge the divide between indoors and outdoors. It's not so much about bringing the indoors out (or the outdoors in) but rather finding that perfect in-between space that isn't fully one or the other. #summer #exteriors #design

Project Spotlight - Cityblock’s flagship health hub in Brooklyn is a beacon of integrated care for marginalized?communities. Every aspect was planned meticulously to create a warm, welcoming environment where patients feel connected and cared for.? This project takes a forward-thinking, holistic approach to healthcare by combining?physical exam rooms, behavioral health, social care, and community rooms under one roof; supporting Cityblock’s belief that social, economic and environmental factors all play into the health of an individual. From the minute the members walk into the hub they are greeted with curated local artwork, natural light and a welcoming reception area with supportive furniture catering to the diverse, complex needs of Cityblock’s member population. The welcome desk is a critical component to the concept of openness and connection. The first member touchpoint inside is barrier-free. It signals to members that this is a space where services are provided in a cooperative, supportive way. The desk curves around to the refreshment zone where members are greeted with Cityblock’s ethos “Be seen. Be heard. Be healthy.” The hub is a warm and welcoming space, where connectivity to the community, and streamlining care are?the guiding principles behind each design decision. It allows members to experience a sense of belonging by creating a personal, relatable space. #community #healthcare #design
