For those looking to utilize iphone pictures on a PC, here is the best simple way I found to ultimately convert to usable JPEG format residing on PC. Step 1: On iphone, goto Settings->Photos. Scroll down to 'Transfer to MAC or PC' and check the box for 'Keep Originals'. HEIC format is the Apple original picture format. This will allow you to transfer the original HEIC images to your PC without your iphone attempting to change them to JPG. (I found the files get corrupted, the transfer time is extreme, iphone disconnects because the transfer time takes so long, and ultimately wastes time and creates more problems...) Step 2: Connect iphone to PC with the USB cable to iphone cable. You will need to unlock iphone for the PC to access. Open up the iphone drive directly in Explorer. Select images from folders to copy to your PC. (Quick Tip: You are able to sort files in iphone using the Explorer Search function by searching '*.*' then sort by file type if you have a lot of pictures in multiple folders. Essentially pulls all files out of the folders for you, so you can select multiple files of the same type easily.) Select files, and drag and drop to folder on PC. Now you will now need to convert those HEIC files to JPEG format. Step 3: Download iMazing Converter. Program is free and simple to use (as of today). iMazing will also convert the video but I did not try that yet. Step 4: Launch iMazing. The software uses a drag and drop window option, allowing you to drag HEIC files into the iMazing window. I was selecting and converting hundreds of files at a time. Next you will be asked to define the file type, quality, and resolution. Default file type is JPEG. I moved the slider to best quality and best resolution to maintain picture integrity. Step 5: In iMazing, click convert and select the folder on your PC for the new JPEG pictures to be located. The file conversion is nearly instant. Now you have photos that most software viewers and programs can use easily. I am sharing this in an effort to hopefully save all of you some time.
