I had the pleasure of sponsoring the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s 45th Annual Labor & Employment Symposium at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel. This event brought together employment attorneys from both the plaintiff and defense sides, making for insightful discussions and excellent networking opportunities. It was great to meet so many dedicated professionals and fellow sponsors—from major mediation companies to solo practitioners—who are all passionate about resolving workplace disputes. The venue was wonderful, and the LACBA team did a fantastic job organizing such a valuable program. I’m truly honored to share that an idea — born from my ongoing search for real opportunities tailored to LL.M. students in the fields of Privacy and Cybersecurity, and for professionals already speaking to and seeking out international talent like me for positions in their organizations — has now grown into a full panel event that I’ll be moderating as an LL.M. Candidate in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity, Class of ’25 at USC Gould School of Law. On Tuesday, April 1, USC Gould’s Graduate & International Programs Careers Office, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Bar Association Privacy and Cybersecurity Section, will host a Privacy Networking Panel featuring top legal professionals in the field: Rebekah Guyon (Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP Traurig), Christina Tusan (Founder of Tusan Law, PC), and Maria Nava (Associate at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz). This idea truly took shape when I suggested creating a space for dialogue between professionals from the LACBA's Section and LL.M. students. I introduced this proposal during a board meeting, where I’ve been actively volunteering since October, 2024, and the goal was to design a panel thoughtfully tailored to this specific audience — students who often face the intense challenge of navigating a new legal system, mastering complex topics in a short timeframe, exploring unfamiliar career paths, building networks from scratch, and searching for job opportunities — all at once. What began as a personal search for professionals already engaging with and supporting international talent like me quickly became a shared initiative embraced by the Section. I was incredibly grateful to receive immediate and enthusiastic support from everyone, and that initial idea has now become a real opportunity: a space to explore both technical and non-technical career paths, highlight valuable certifications, and offer practical insights into building a legal career and professional network in the U.S. ?? Even more exciting: this panel was also offered to other law schools like UCLA and Loyola Marymount University, reaching both international LL.M. and J.D. students across Southern California. I'm deeply grateful for that expansion and impact! ? I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make this happen: To the Los Angeles County Bar Association' Section, for their openness and support — represented by our inspiring speakers, each of whom generously offered their time and attention. To USC Gould School of Law and Graduate and International Programs, represented by Amanda Thyden, for embracing the idea and hosting the event on campus. I truly believe this conversation will be meaningful to many students exploring a future in privacy, and I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to see an idea become reality — one that I hope will positively impact both academic and professional communities, creating a lasting bridge between students and the legal industry.
