A mentoring program designed to provide unique mentoring experiences for those entering the practice area.

关于我们

In 2016 the Labor and Employment Section of the State Bar of Georgia launched the Labor and Employment Mentorship Academy, a mentoring program designed to provide its less experienced members the opportunity to be mentored by those more experienced. This program is the first of its kind among State Bar Sections, and is being co-sponsored by the Georgia Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. The Academy has been a roaring success, with over 100 Section members benefiting to date. Mentoring requires a full year commitment; mentors spend 3 to 4 hours a month meeting with and being available for discussions with their mentee. Serving as a mentor is a great opportunity to “give back,” and to participate in a program which will benefit the mentor as much, if not more, than the mentee. Quarterly CLE meetings with mentors and mentees provide each participant with an opportunity to learn from and network with other Labor & Employment Section members throughout the state. In addition the Academy launched the Courtroom Experience where mentees, with guidance and input from their mentors, prepare oral arguments on mock dispositive motions and argue them before real federal judges in court. The Board seeks mentors and mentees from across the Labor and Employment legal community. We seek and encourage participation by persons of various ages, ethnicities, genders and orientations, located throughout the state of Georgia and with practices representing government, unions, employers or employees. There is no minimum or maximum experience level for mentees, only the sincere interest and desire to learn and grow through a focused Labor & Employment mentoring process.
