You may have seen the news that Colorado strip clubs are facing allegations of wage theft. This investigation by The Denver Post uncovers how some clubs have been illegally withholding wages from dancers, charging unfair fees, and misclassifying workers to avoid labor protections. This type of exploitation is part of a broader system that makes workers vulnerable to labor trafficking. This #WorldPoetryDay, listen to Ashley Cornelius’ original poem, “Defy Silence” (originally performed at our live virtual event on Colorado Gives Day 2020). “This is about speaking up in a world that is expecting you to stay silent. So, will you join us and be loud? Will you defy silence with your voice?” #WorldPoetryDay #Poetry #Poem #SpokenWord #BecauseIKnow #EndTraffickingColorado #EliminateExploitation #EndHumanTrafficking #HumanRights #SocialJustice #HumanTraffickingAwareness

Recently, our team heard from a partner at a Colorado District Attorney office that they are sentencing a trafficker to 20 years in prison, followed by 8 years of sex offender intensive supervised probation. The case involved several juvenile victims… and it began with a tip from LCHT’s 24/7 Human Trafficking Hotline in 2022. ?? There is no doubt that the Hotline makes a real difference for survivors of human trafficking in Colorado. Will you help power this critical resource? Every $20 can help FOUR survivors access immediate help when they call the Hotline. Give $20 in honor of LCHT’s 20th anniversary year: https://lnkd.in/eJsrdtva #EndHumanTrafficking #HumanRights #Hotline #ColoradoNonprofit #EndExploitation #HumanTraffickingHotline #HumanTraffickingAwareness #Colorado #HumanTrafficking

#Throwback to 2018 when Craig represented LCHT at an event with YouthRoots, a nonprofit dedicated to unleashing the power of youth to make change. We were thrilled to be a grantee with the Douglas County YouthBoard. There’s nothing better than seeing young people learning about the issues impacting their communities, joining in the conversation, and taking action. ?? “This photo shows some of our staff, interns, and board members at a grassroots ‘Rise Up’ event we hosted in May 2017 with the organizers of the Denver Women's March who wanted to get more involved in local issues. It’s the kind of memory I love, because about 100 community members showed up to learn more about human trafficking and how to take action.” — Craig Nason, Development and Communications Director Your turn! LCHT is proud to be a woman-led and women-founded organization. Throughout our 20-year history, we’ve had a strong legacy of women in leadership on our team and Board of Directors. From the earliest days, co-founders AJ Alejano-Steele and Amanda Finger (pictured) fundamentally believed that their contributions to the anti-trafficking movement would make a difference. LCHT was also officially founded on V-Day, a day that raises awareness to end violence against women and girls. Subsequent staff, interns, volunteers, Board members, survivor leaders, and supporters have been grounded in feminist values (and the majority of whom identify as women). Gender identities relate to exploitation, too. Women and girls face a higher risk of experiencing human trafficking. So this International Women’s Day, we are celebrating all the women who are making a difference for survivors and working to end this crime. ?? #InternationalWomensDay #WomensDay #IWD2025 #20YearsStrong #EndHumanTrafficking #ColoradoNonprofit #HumanTraffickingAwareness #HumanRights #Nonprofit #HumanTrafficking

#Throwback to 2018 when Kara was the manager of our 24/7 Human Trafficking Hotline (pictured here at a training with some dedicated volunteer advocates). The Hotline is now 18 years old! First, it was operated by The Salvation Army Denver Metro. Then, it shifted to The Colorado Network to End Human Trafficking (CoNEHT), led by us, Colorado Legal Services, and the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network. Thousands of calls and texts from survivors seeking help and individuals reporting a tip have been answered since then. ?? Look back in time with us during our 20th anniversary year!
