The final day of the?USHCC Legislative Summit?at?Capitol Hill?was nothing short of transformative. This annual gathering, a cornerstone for Hispanic business leaders across the nation, once again provided a platform for advocacy, inspiration, and unity. A highlight of the day was?Kate Hill from Amazon, whose company served as a key sponsor of the event. Her speech was nothing less than extraordinary—filled with insight and motivation that left attendees energized and ready to take on the challenges ahead. Adding to the momentum,?Synthia R. Jimmy Gomez, congressman from California made the whole room laugh with these words: "I am not against tariffs, but I am against DUMB tarrifs".? Senator JOHN CORNYN?made a special appearance during the luncheon, where everyone got to see the impact that government decisions have on all of Hispanic businesses. Closing the event on a high note,?Ramiro Cavazos?left us all with an uplifting message, reinforcing the unity and strength of the Hispanic business community. Day 2 of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Legislative Summit 2025 in Washington, D.C. The day kicked off with the General Session Breakfast: Rise and Thrive – Smart Economic Policy for Business Success. Dr. Adriana Kugler, from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, delivered a powerful keynote address at The Mayflower Hotel, setting the tone for a dynamic panel discussion on the economic landscape and entrepreneurship. The Honorable Jovita Carranza shared her expertise, drawing from her tenure as the 26th Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (2020-2021) and 44th U.S. Treasurer (2017-2020). She provided critical insights into expiring tax provisions, their impact on entrepreneurs, and strategies to navigate the shifting tax landscape. As the national debate continues, the USHCC and small business leaders remain strong advocates for lower taxes, reduced regulation, and policies that foster economic growth. Throughout the day, attendees engaged in sessions designed to equip them with practical tools to strengthen their businesses. During the Lunchtime Session, Yuri Cunza, CEO of the Nashville Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, gave us a warm welcome. Ramiro Cavazos, CEO of USHCC and Jacquelyn Puente, enlightened us as Victor Arias presented a panel, who led discussions on the evolving U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA 2.0) and its implications for businesses engaged in cross-border trade. The session explored tariffs, trade trends, and regulatory changes affecting key industries—from telecommunications to agriculture. A distinguished panel featuring Michael C. Camu?ez, Al Zapanta, Adriana Martinez, and Silvia Foster-Frau provided valuable insights on how businesses can adapt, seize new opportunities, and stay competitive in an evolving trade environment. In the afternoon, attendees participated in the Breakout Session: Revolutionizing Payments – Blockchain, Policy, and the Next Wave of Financial Innovation. As blockchain technology reshapes financial transactions, this session examined how regulatory shifts under the new administration will impact digital payments in 2025. Experts Janessa Lopez, Madeleine Tapia, and Cleve Mesidor led an engaging discussion on how blockchain enhances security, lowers transaction costs, and expands financial inclusion—offering entrepreneurs a roadmap to leverage this innovation in their businesses. Later in the afternoon, Senator Ted Cruz made a brief appearance at the Summit, where he mainly spoke about his family, his Cuban father, his accomplishments in the state of Texas and how he sees Cuba as a free country in the future. Day 2 was filled with valuable insights, actionable strategies, and meaningful discussions, reinforcing the USHCC’s commitment to empowering Hispanic businesses in an evolving economic and policy landscape.
