#LaRazaSpeaks: Last week, SFMTA voted 6-1 to ban RV’s from San Francisco, displacing over 400 families living in vehicles. In this video, Maritza Villagomez, La Raza’s Family Advocate, speaks against the proposition in a 9/17 hearing to SFMTA. Her impactful message pushed for culturally competent communication from SFMTA to better address the needs of communities in need. Since 2009, AAN's expertise and commitment to serving the African diaspora has changed countless lives through their crucial legal, linguistic, educational, and cultural services in 10+ languages that span the African continent ? We've had the pleasure of working closely with AAN's dedicated Executive Director on several crucial initiatives, including: ? San Francisco Immigrant Legal & Education Network (SFILEN) ? SF Rapid Response Network ? "Three days after giving birth, your options are: the streets, a tent, a shelter... or an RV, where you at least have some privacy." Yesterday, La Raza's Director of Family Resources, Jadma Dudek (Jadma Noronha), ACSW, gave her perspective of SFMTA's Citywide RV Ban. Alongside speakers and leaders from Coalition On Homelessness, Senior and Disability Action, and Mission Action, Jadma expressed her concern for homeless families living in RV's. She continued, "That's the families that [SFMTA] will be putting back into the streets. Families with newborns...with children.?Other families will return to a shelter bed after leaving the hospital with a newborn." Despite the community's efforts, SFMTA voted 6-1 to pass their ban of overnight RV parking. Now, these families will be turning to non-profits and public services to keep themselves off the streets. As this unfortunate event unfolds, La Raza CRC remains dedicated to providing families with food, resources, and guidance to help them escape our city's cycle of poverty and thrive. #SanFrancisco #SadFrancisco #SFMTA #HousingCrisis #BayAreaNews #NonProfits #CommunityPower

Family is the heart of our city -- that's why we're proud to share some moments from Saturday's #CityKidsFamilyFair! La Raza's Gabriel Medina (馬德拿) & Ethena Caldas welcomed guests to the event and showcased our support for immigrant families with food, housing, and legal resources. The event, hosted by Children's Council of San Francisco, brought families and organizations together for a day of community joy under the sun. Alongside dozens of allied organizations, this event was a massive success in spreading love, joy, and resources to the multicultural families that thread the diverse fabric of #SanFrancisco.
