Enhancing San Diego's cultural vitality by presenting & producing a dynamic range of performing arts
关于我们
Located at the brand new Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, La Jolla Music Society is one of the most prestigious and highly-respected multi-disciplinary presenting organizations in the United States. A leading contributor to San Diego’s cultural vitality since its founding nearly forty years ago, LJMS’ October-to-May presenting season offers a rich variety of artistic experiences: internationally-renowned orchestras on tour in the United States; chamber music performances ranging from solo piano recitals to string quartets and early music specialists; a wide-ranging jazz series; and dance performances in ballet, modern and post-modern idioms. LJMS' signature event each year is the nationally-acclaimed SummerFest; a three-week music festival of performances, live broadcasts, open rehearsals, educational encounters, pre-concert talks, and social events. All of LJMS’ activities support extensive education and outreach programs. LJMS brings into local communities world-class classical music, modern dance, jazz and ballet in eight different venues throughout the county. These performances are of artists who regularly appear at Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and indeed on the great stages of the world. Simply put LJMS’ motto is “We Bring the World to San Diego” …and LJMS brings the best the world has to offer.

"The two world premieres, commissioned by La Jolla Music Society and Carnegie Hall, were inspired by Persian classical music. The first piece, Baozhi Yang’s dramatic 'Ambush on All Sides,' is followed by Janácek’s Sonata for Violin and Piano. The program will close with Prokofiev’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in F Minor." READ MORE HERE: https://ow.ly/27TB50Vf05C

"On Friday evening, in a recital as the La Jolla Music Society’s artist-in-residence at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, he offered a rendition of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” that, as his Gen-Z Facebook fans might put it, 'hit different.'” -The San Diego Union-Tribune https://lnkd.in/gRU4smGP

March is National Music in Schools Month, and there’s no better time to share this inspiring #FunFact: Every musician in our Discovery Series not only performs at The Conrad—they dedicate their time to teaching and empowering students at our Community Music Center. These rising stars in #classicalmusic like violinist Randall Goosby and saxophonist Jess Gillam go the extra mile during their San Diego visit to leave a lasting impact on our students in Barrio Logan and beyond! Next up is prize-winning cellist Jaemin Han, who will perform at The Conrad this June. As you watch him perform, remember: his incredible talent reaches beyond the stage—he’s also shaping the next generation of San Diego’s #music students.

Today is the start of #EarlyMusic Month! We are one of three organizations in #SanDiego celebrating all things #Baroque in March. Join us at The Conrad on Saturday, March 22 for the 300th anniversary of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons! This iconic piece will be performed on period instruments by the French ensemble Les Arts Florissants with Théotime Langlois de Swarte—the #violin superstar who has been called "mesmerizing" (The New York Times) and "a stunner by any standard" (The Strad). Great seats are available for this very special concert at The Conrad in #LaJolla. TAP FOR A SNEAK PEEK > https://lnkd.in/guNn8qfC
