关于我们
La Colmena NYC, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by a group of day laborers, domestic workers and professional allies to establish an independent, membership-based organization that fully represents the immigrant workforce in Staten Island, NY. La Colmena’s mission is to empower the immigrant community through education, culture and economic development. The organizational goals are focused on three key priorities: immigrant workforce, community engagement and cultural organizing, in line with the priorities identified by our day laborer members, their families and the greater immigrant community in Staten Island.

Something powerful is happening on Staten Island. Last week, we launched the “Welcoming Staten Island Initiative.” This initiative serves as a powerful reminder that our immigrant communities are not alone on Staten Island. Through this initiative, businesses, churches, organizations and schools came together because we recognize that immigration impacts us all, in one way or another. Our goal is to spread this movement beyond the North Shore, reaching the South Shore and every corner of Staten Island. We want to send a clear message to immigrant families—whether it’s to the mothers, fathers, or children— that they have an entire community standing w/ them. TY to the community members, businesses, churches, schools, nonprofits AM Mitaynes and Tatiana Arguello for joining us. ?? If you’re are an organization, ally or participant and would like to join our initiative, contact us via email: [email protected] or direct message us.

?? Dear participants and allies, Yesterday was a challenging day for Staten Island’s immigrant community. Many may feel that the hard-fought progress we’ve made together has been set back. But let us be clear, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Our commitment remains steadfast. We stand strong in our mission to empower immigrant workers through education, culture, organizing, and economic development. We refuse to be reactive—we will be proactive. Together we are launching the Welcoming Staten Island Initiative, to create an emergency response network with key community, stakeholders and providers to stand with the immigrant community of Staten Island. Staten Island will rise to be the welcoming borough it is destined to be—a place where every immigrant feels at home. We will not go back into the shadows. We are ready! ? ?? If you’re are an organization, ally or participant and would like to join our initiative, contact us via email: [email protected] or direct message us to get more information on our first meeting.
