It's time for another #StaffSpotlight! Meet Eddie Ulin, La Casa Norte's Permanent Supportive Housing Supervisor, who joined the agency in 2022. Born and raised in Humboldt Park, he shares, "Working at La Casa Norte has not only deepened my passion for social work, it’s also given me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. The staff here are incredibly supportive, and being part of a team where everyone is committed to the same mission makes the work even more meaningful." Outside of work, Eddie is not one to sit idle. He’s a full-time graduate student at the University of Chicago, where he’s pursuing his Master's in Social Work, and he’s also training for his first marathon later this year. Last week, La Casa Norte's small-but-mighty community assistance team hosted two impactful seminars in partnership with our friends at City Colleges of Chicago. The workshops familiarized attendees with educational opportunities available at City Colleges of Chicago-Wilbur Wright College, City Colleges of Chicago-Harry S Truman College, and organizations throughout the city — regardless of immigration status. For our very first #MarathonMonday of the year, we're excited to spotlight Larissa A., a dedicated #TeamLaCasaNorte runner and the Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships at HACR - Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility! Shares Larissa, "Giving back to my Chicago community and supporting our youth means so much to me. This run is deeply personal, and with every mile, I intend to bring a little more hope to those who need it most." This will be Larissa's second marathon but her first time tackling the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Distance Series — a three-part racing portfolio that includes an 8k Shamrock Shuffle, a half marathon, and a full marathon (whew!).
