We’re proud to support our owner community, Estes Park, in launching an innovative community battery storage project! As we advance our Resource Diversification Policy, we’re dedicated to collaborating with our owner communities to meet their unique needs with reliable, renewable energy and storage. In addition to its unique geography, Estes Park is faced with challenges like wildfires, high winds and flooding which threatens the local electric grid. As a result, this project received grant funding to support building a microgrid for the community. This project will help keep critical infrastructure—like the hospital—powered during severe weather events. We're working to strengthen Estes Park's grid resilience in partnership with the Colorado Energy Office and the Grid Deployment Office | U.S. Department of Energy. Together, we’re building a brighter, more secure future!????? #Community #PublicPower #PlatteRiver

LPPC joined the United States Energy Association Energy-Tech Connect Forum yesterday, where Tom Falcone, LPPC’s President-Elect, and Javier Fernandez, LPPC Vice Chair and CEO of Omaha Public Power District, shared insights on load growth alongside Dan R. Brouillette, President and CEO of Edison Electric Institute, and Marc Reitter, President and COO of AEP Ohio. ? Javier noted that as the CEO of a utility that must double its generation capacity by the decade's end to meet unprecedented demand,?he is encouraged by the positive economic implications of expansion. And although dealing with increasing load growth can be challenging?for utilities, it’s undeniable that?utilities play?an essential role?in fostering economic progress. ? When the conversation turned to?how leaders in Washington, D.C.,?could support utilities as they work to meet demand,?Tom shared examples of public power systems that are building?new infrastructure as fast as possible despite being encumbered by the current system’s inefficiencies. He emphasized the need for streamlined permitting and siting processes to help utilities meet growing demand and advance decarbonization efforts. Thank you to USEA President Mark W. Menezes for hosting yesterday's event and moderating the panel discussion.? #reliability #energyfuture #cleanenergy #energydemand #publicpower
