State lawmakers across the US are pushing crypto legislation, with nine states introducing bills since February. These range from Bitcoin reserves to task forces shaping digital asset policies. North Carolina proposed a bill allowing the state treasurer to invest in crypto via exchange-traded products (ETPs), capped at 10% of allocated funds. Michigan introduced a bill for a state crypto reserve, permitting up to 10% of state funds in digital assets. New York is considering a task force to assess crypto’s impact, including energy consumption and regulatory competitiveness. Meanwhile, Texas modified its Bitcoin reserve bill to include other cryptocurrencies with a $500B market cap. Other states, including Florida, Utah, Ohio, Missouri, and Kentucky, have also introduced crypto-friendly bills, reflecting growing state-level interest. However, past Bitcoin reserve proposals have been rejected in North Dakota and Wyoming.
