On March 1, 2025, KYCC collaborated with the United Way of Greater Los Angeles Central American Resource Center - Los Angeles (CARECEN-LA) Central City Neighborhood Partners, LiFT PICO-UNION HOUSING CORPORATION, Los Angeles Public Library, and The Pico Union Project to host the Prosperity Pico Union Vendor Resource Fair. This event was a partnership between the United Way of Greater LA and KYCC’s Small Business Development Team, aimed at providing essential information for small businesses, covering topics like registration, permits, vendor safety, payment options, marketing, and branding. Furthermore, KYCC offered our small business clients complimentary tax preparation services and enrollment in FamilySource Center programs, broadening our reach within the community and ensuring access to vital support. On February 28, 2025, KYCC's Prevention Education hosted its 8th annual Rise Up Speak Out event, titled “From Silence to Strength.” The gathering brought together artists, advocates, and community members for an evening of meaningful expression at The Live Hotel. Co-hosted by the Coalition for Prevention and Awareness in LA Metro (CoPALM) and the MacArthur Park Community Initiative (MPCI), this year's theme, From Silence to Strength, delved into the internal challenges our communities encounter and highlighted the strength found in using our voices to address them. In addition to the art, attendees received healing and wellness resources to foster reflection and self-care. A community member facilitated a guided meditation focused on intentions of healing and self-compassion. Various interactive stations, such as coloring, postcard creation, and an aromatherapy area, provided creative and soothing ways for participants to connect with the evening's theme.
