?? Meet Michael Kokorudz: Summer Intern at KYC2020, Applied Mathematics and Computer Engineering Student at Queen's University ??
We're thrilled to introduce one of our brilliant summer interns, Michael Kokorudz, who has been making a significant impact on the KYC2020 Data Team during his time with us.
? Michael, what drew you to pursue Applied Mathematics and Computer Engineering, and how did you decide to join KYC2020 for your summer internship?
I had a strong background in mathematics throughout high school, with my career interests lying in the field of engineering, so this specialty program was a perfect combination of both. The choice to join KYC2020 for my summer internship was very straight forward, as it gave me the chance to gain professional experience that relates to my interests and degree.
? During your internship with the KYC2020 Data Team, what’s one project that you’re particularly proud of, and what did you learn from it?
The project I am most proud of is the work I did on making the gender and nationality predictive model for name data. I learned the importance of collaborating and asking valuable questions, as well as the importance of trying to answer the question first by yourself. It also taught me valuable technical skills and the value of modelling data properly before implementation.
? As someone who’s still in school, how do you stay on top of both your studies and the latest developments in technology?
To stay on top of the latest developments in technology, I join clubs that use the latest tech, read news articles about new tech developments whenever I can, and try to utilize the latest tech during my studies where applicable.
? Collaboration is key at KYC2020. Can you share an experience where working with the team enhanced your internship experience?
During meetings about issues in my code, the team consistently communicated their thought processes and reasoning, which greatly enhanced my understanding of how a Senior Software Engineer approaches problem-solving. This experience was invaluable to my internship. Additionally, personal one-on-one meetings with the CEO, Rajeev Bahri, significantly enriched my experience. His guidance helped me understand not only what I needed to achieve but also how my contributions would benefit KYC2020 as a company.
? Outside of your academic and professional life, what hobbies or interests do you pursue to unwind and recharge?
To recharge I often find myself golfing with my friends, hitting the driving range, playing soccer, or playing video games.
Join us in celebrating Michael Kokorudz for his hard work and contributions to the KYC2020 Data Team this summer! ??
