Jeffrey Abramowitz, CEO of the Petey Greene Program, delivered the keynote during the My Story Reimagined Summit today at the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville. A subject matter expert on adult education, workforce development and justice, Abramowitz facilitated an eye-opening re-entry simulation for nearly 300 summit attendees. The Kentucky Office of Adult Education hosted the event for providers, businesses and community organizations to collaborate on workforce development and education services that help Kentuckians in recovery or justice-involved situations become employed and self-sufficient.

The Kentucky Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services applauds the city of Olive Hill for launching its new firefighting apprenticeship, building upon its partnership with Kentucky Rural Water Association and its successful wastewater treatment apprenticeship. The competency-based firefighting apprenticeship is a three-year program that can lead to 7+ certifications. The Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services recently recognized the Building Institute of Central Kentucky and the Kentucky Laborer's Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund for providing apprenticeship opportunities to hundreds of Kentuckians. The institute boasts 236 active apprentices and reported 40 completions in 2024.
