关于我们
K'UL has always been more about people than chocolate. We wanted to do something that was different. So instead of buying from large cacao suppliers, we created direct trade partnerships with select women’s cooperatives in the Dominican Republic and Peru. These cooperatives partner with farmers who carefully nurture and harvest their organic cacao — producing the most complex, distinctively flavored bean-to-bar chocolate in the world. The K'UL Mission We believe that if we invest in women they will reinvest in their families and their communities. By working with co-ops, we create real relationships with the women and pay them directly. This ensures greater economic opportunities to help their communities and families. At K'UL, we are mission-driven and see chocolate as a tool for social change. ? We provide small women's cooperatives with organizational and financial support to bring their facilities into organic certification status. ? We support small, local cacao growers and work towards getting each association certified organic through our partnerships. ? We work directly with each women's cooperative as partners in our supply chain to ensure they are given the highest wage that exceeds fair trade premiums. ? We created an international education exchange program that allows women's from our cooperatives in the Dominican Republic or Peru to come to our manufacturing facility to learn about chocolate production from our master chocolatier. ? We facilitate growth programs with regional governments that provide both organizational and financial support to assist each cooperative reach greater economic opportunities through exportation.

It's Eat Local Month here in Bellingham and we're highlighting a couple of the awesome local businesses that use our chocolate! If you've been to the pump track, you know the excitement around Selkie Scoop. This well loved Bellingham staples is one of our favorites. Selkie Scoop has homemade, organic ice cream and freshly rolled waffle cones down at Bellingham's waterfront, Trackside. Watch how Selkie Scoop creates their chocolate ice cream in their renovated shipping container and the cutest customer enjoying it!

We've partnered with Lydia Place, a non-profit here in Bellingham, to help break the cycle of homelessness, through our Lydia Place bars. ALL the proceeds of these bars go to Lydia Place and we're thrilled to announce that they've raised an impressive $14,200 in the past year, through the sales of these bars. This brings our total to $30K in donations!!?We're incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for our community's support! You can find these bars on our website, www.kulchocolate.com, and throughout Bellingham at your favorite stores. Or contact Lydia Place directly and find out how to carry these in your store today!?

Our new chocolate making machines are installed! The process of designing the system to fit into our space (to the inch) took a year and many many hours of agonizing focus, as our space is tight. Then came the installation that included two teams from Italy. First, Packint set up massive ball mills, conches, tanks and pipes that are needed to transform the chocolate into a creamy, smooth texture. These machines then pour chocolate into the TecnoChoc system, which turns the molten chocolate into chocolate chips, wafers and chunks. These machines can make up to 1,200 pounds of chocolate chips an hour. Yes, you read that right! Paul and Ari are pictured here with Simone and Andrea, who were here for 3 weeks to install the chocolate chip maker. This was an immense undertaking!

We were thrilled to have Canlis Restaurant visit us! We knew they would understand and appreciate the chocolate making progress. Canlis understands that crafting food that delights is truly a gift. What totally took us by surprise was the honest conversation about building teams where each person is uniquely different, but driving towards the same goal. We were inspired by their intentionality and connection. It was clear that Chef Aisha and the entire Canlis crew were passionate about creating something magical and meaningful. Thank you for the visit and the conversation!
