???? The relationship between Down Syndrome Innovations and KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center is so vital!
It's #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth ???? As the life expectancy of people with Down syndrome has increased over the last few decades, there are some unfortunate challenges associated with aging for our community – including Alzheimer’s disease. In fact, Alzheimer’s disease impacts close to 90% of people with Down syndrome, with the average age of diagnosis around 50 years of age (according to research by KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center/KU ADRC). ?? This is why we've partnered with KU ADRC, an NIH Center of Excellence, to spread the word about the clinical programs, research studies, and clinical trials they have available specifically for people with Down syndrome. Learn more here: https://kuadrc.org/DSI ?? We are also co-hosting a Caregiver Education Seminar on Tuesday, Oct. 29th, at our office! Attendees will learn about the increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease in people with Down syndrome, including the reasons why they are at such a high risk. Additionally, we will discuss current and future treatment options. Followed by a Q & A session. Be sure to register here: https://lnkd.in/g2xdbu64 before spots fill up! ? #MissionDriven #TogetherWeChangeLives #KnowledgeIsPower #FindACureForAlzheimers
