Underground infrastructure: It's the unsung hero of construction.... Check out this underground junction chamber and arch our team just finished! 78" RCP pipe transitioning into a 90" cast in place arch. The arch was extended and finished with a set of wingwalls and rock channel protection. This new storm system carries stormwater run off from urban streets and outlets near the river. How does a $3.6+ Billion infrastructure project get started? Answer: A few great people team up to do what they love. KT Holden Construction is honored and humbled to be the first shovel/excavator bucket in the ground on this monumental project, The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor (BSBC) project. KT Holden Construction was contracted by the Walsh Kokosing Joint Venture to get this project started. The first step in a very long, 10-year journey. Built in 1904, Longworth Hall was the largest building of its kind in the world. With over 80,000 feet of piling driven to hold it up. A section of this great building is in the way of the new Brent Spence Bridge Corridor (BSBC) project. Our team was tasked with exposing a couple of the underground pier caps to determine depth and size. Now that this data has been collected, AECOM and the design team can design the new exterior foundation and wall for Longworth Hall. Once design is complete, this portion of the building will be demolished and then the new bridge can be constructed! It all has to start somewhere. This is just the beginning.
