From our #EXPAND highlights — see how architects can lead an interdisciplinary team to extraordinary results. KTGY partnered with developer HHHunt to helm planning and architectural visioning for the Aire at Westchester Commons. From the creative flurry of a design charrette to the emergence of one coordinated vision, this team pursued a residential experience that would unite design with the local landscape. Thank you to those in our D.C. studio working to bring this vibrant community to life! How can we design for the unknown? Resilient design challenges us to think beyond immediate needs, crafting spaces that adapt to shifting technological, economic, or environmental demands. It’s a complex conversation, but one that architects are uniquely positioned to lead. Megan Valentine (Dougherty), KTGY’s Director of Sustainability, explores how resilient design is shaping the future of our communities: https://lnkd.in/gZ88ftF3 #ResilientDesign #Flexibility #Adaptability #ShapingCommunities #FutureOfDesign #KTGY

To rescue a locally loved but financially struggling shopping center in Greendale, Wisconsin, the innovators behind KTGY’s architecture and branded environments team, in partnership with Barrett Lo Visionary Development, reimagined the retail complex with an all-new structure and a refreshed take on its strongly rooted regional identity. Drawing on the community’s history as a greenbelt town, the Greendale Development creates a mixed-use living, shopping and entertainment district centered on a pleasant village green and built around the idea of shared space and community access. Our designers knew that, to preserve this place, the site needed a new vision. Through research, community feedback and collaboration with our client, we designed a space that honors Greendale’s legacy while positioning it for a vibrant future, ensuring its vitality for generations to come. A special thanks to those involved in bringing this vision to life. ?? From ancient ruins to vacant office towers, our world moves on while structures outlive their intended purpose. In #EXPAND No. 15, Megan Valentine (Dougherty), Director of Sustainability, leans on decades of industry experience to make the case for adaptive reuse in vastly different contexts. Adaptive reuse is more than token preservation — reusing older structures conserves resources, limits construction impacts and makes developments more sustainable. KTGY’s built work and innovative ideas reveal the business case, the environmental benefit and the social advantage of giving buildings a second and third life. The best restaurants you’ve visited have either been lucky, meticulously planned, or both. Sometimes inspiration strikes by chance, but more often, to build something great, brilliant minds must come together to impress a bold, collaborative vision onto a blank slate. Featured in #EXPAND No. 15, Kindling Downtown Cookout and Cocktails is a calling card that showcases stunning designs from three KTGY service areas: Architecture, Interior Design and Branded Environments. Drawing inspiration from the Sears Tower’s 1973 debut, Kindling’s verdant retro design brings a playful and whimsical spirit to the heart of Downtown Chicago. Spaces like these take time and ingenuity to shape, but they truly come to life through unforgettable guest experiences. Thank you to the incredible teams who helped make Kindling a reality! Following the recent topping off of Capella, a 22-story luxury high-rise community, KTGY Principal Ray Tse reflected on the unique responsibility and excitement that comes with designing high rises. For an architect, shaping a city’s skyline is a noble opportunity — a skyline forms a defining image, one that can become a powerful symbol for the people who call that city home. In #EXPAND No. 15, Ray reflects on his experience shaping the skyline of Dallas, Forth Worth and Las Vegas exploring how designers can deepen their understanding of local context and the lasting impact design can have on surrounding communities. From #EXPAND No. 15’s showcase, we’re excited to spotlight Bria and Capella at Symphony Park, designed by KTGY Dallas, formerly GDA Architects, for Las Vegas’s ambitious new cultural district. These two buildings set the pace, in terms of architecture and atmosphere, for the residential phase of the master plan. Our Dallas team collaborated with the client to develop a clear identity and a shared vision for the residential phase of Symphony Park, beginning with the low-rise Auric in block A. Working from a strong understanding of this shared vision, KTGY was selected to lead the design of blocks B and C, Bria and Capella. Today, this new and exciting vision for the future of Las Vegas is quickly approaching completion. A special thanks to our Dallas team who played a role in bringing this community to life!
