KSU SMIF Fall 2024 Equity Pitch ? Members of KSU SMIF presented their Fall 2024 Equity Pitches on Thursday, November 14th to a packed house. Senior Analysts pitched a Buy recommendation on Monster Energy, ASML, Hermes, Paccar, Snap-On, and DoubleVerify. Wonderful job by all analysts as well as the Managing and Associate Directors. The KSU SMIF team of Daniel Halliday, Lukas Ollivier, Keegan Thottam, and William Wallace competed in the 2024 CFA Society Atlanta Ethics Challenge last week at Emory University. In addition to learning about ethics and professsional conduct, the team performed very well in a closely contested competition and received very high marks from the Judges. KSU SMIF thanks the members of our team for representing us and Kennesaw State University so well and to CFA Society Atlanta for holding this annual competition.

We were delighted to hear from KSU SMIF alumni Christian Zember, Zachary Jurich, Rachel Cowart and Patrick Lim on Thursday, October 17th.?We kicked off the panel with a few questions by moderator and CEO John Longshore and followed with an active Q&A session. They spoke about their current role at their company, the role that SMIF played in their growth in college and career, the career decision making process and how to build valuable networks. We are very grateful to y'all, Christian, Zach, Rachel, and Patrick for your time and support. The success of our alumni and their passionate engagement has been a key to the growth and success of KSU SMIF. Thanks as well to Professor Tom Miller and Govind Hariharan for your attendance.

On Thursday, October 10th KSU SMIF had the distinct pleasure of hosting a very engaging Career Conversation with Industry Leader Paul English, CFA, CFP?, Head of US Fixed Income Research at Invesco. He shared insight on his role surrounding credit strategy and management of investment grade research, education and certifications within the job market, how he navigated the 2008 recession, and so much more. Our enthralled audience of members were grateful to get the chance to participate in an engaging Q&A session and dive deeper into his thoughts and experiences. Our sincerest thanks to Paul for taking the time out of his busy schedule to speak with us and help mold the next generation of industry leaders. On Thursday, October 3rd KSU SMIF presented our Current Holdings pitches to a packed house. We kicked off the presentations with a quick and informative Macroeconomic Update from our Chief Economist Cody Pacheco before our selected Senior Analysts presented their research on companies currently within our portfolio under the guidance of their Managing and Associate Directors. Pitches included Celanese, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, Apple, Visa, Lennar, Nextera Energy with a Swap recommendation for The Southern Company, and Lennar. We look forward to seeing you all at our Equity Pitch in November. ? On Thursday, September 5th the Junior Analysts of KSU SMIF presented their analyses covering a wide range of industries to a packed house. We have seen tremendous growth since our initial inception which has prompted us to adapt to the large size of the firm through our introduction of our Junior Analyst Program. This has allowed new members of the cohort the opportunity to represent the fund under the guidance of their Senior Analysts, Associate Directors, and Managing Directors for Industry Overviews. Presentations included Aerospace & Defense, Soft Drinks & Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Multi-Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Electronics, Downstream Oil, and Wireless Telecommunications. KSU Student Managed Investment Fund CEO John Longshore and Director of Human Resources Hannah Hunt represented KSU SMIF at Colesfest on Wednesday, September 4th. The event fostered engaging conversations with students and faculty on the abundance of learning opportunities that SMIF has to offer; including hands-on equity research experience, portfolio-management, networking opportunities, and much more. We are grateful we got the chance to showcase the fund's achievements, experiences, and opportunities to the students of KSU and Coles College.
