We are excited to invite you to the 20th General K.S. Thimayya Memorial Lecture, which will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, 26th October, 2024 at the Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bengaluru. This milestone lecture will be delivered by Dilip Jajodia (1961, Pettigrew), the Managing Director of British Cricket Balls Ltd. - makers of the iconic Dukes cricket ball. Some of you may recall that Dilip was originally scheduled to deliver our 15th lecture, which had to be postponed at the last moment due to unforeseen circumstances.? We are thrilled to finally have him join us once again in person, traveling from London, to speak on “The Life and Times of a Cricket Thinker.” The General K.S. Thimayya Medal will be presented to Arthur Chiphang, IAS for his exemplary contribution to education and social welfare. Arthur is presently the?Joint Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. More details are available in the attached invite. The Trust pays tribute to the memory of General Kodandera Subayya Thimayya, Padma Bhushan, DSO, Chief of Army Staff (1957-1961), Cottonian (1918-22) by carrying out activities in support of institutions that the late General has been closely involved with, such as the Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, the Kumaon Regiment, the Army, the Armed Forces at large, and Kodagu District. The Trust organises its annual Lecture Series by inviting distinguished Old Cottonians to render a keynote address on a subject of public relevance. The underlying tribute is to Cotton's – alma mater to innumerable distinguished and loyal Old Boys. The Trust recognises former members of the teaching, administrative and support staff of the Cotton's, with a citation and a cheque for Rs. 1 Lakh each from its Benevolent Fund. Since the inception of the Fund, the Trust has handed out around Rs. 50 Lakh to deserving staff members.
