关于我们
Since 2009, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and former New York Times columnist and Nicholas Kristof has written an annual “holiday gift guide” column to bridge a philanthropic gap: readers who wanted to help but didn’t know how, and heroic individuals and organizations who desperately needed resources but were off donors’ radar. The column has helped raise the profiles of organizations that work on the very issues he covers in his journalism—health, education, human rights and women’s rights, both domestically and abroad.

“By ‘prescribing’ books during pediatric visits — and giving the books away for free — Reach Out and Read ushers children onto the magic carpet of reading at an early age for an incredibly inexpensive cost.” - Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nick Kristof. Huge news from The New York Times today: Nick Kristof awarded Reach Out and Read the Kristof Impact Initiative Prize. This honor recognizes the transformational impact of our evidence-based model, which gives millions of under-resourced children a better start to life.

Every day, I’m proud to be part of a team dedicated to transforming women’s lives—but this weekend was particularly special. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." ~ Rev. Martin Luther King. Thank you to Nick Kristof, 2-time Pulitzer Prize Winner and columnist at The New York Times, for recognizing Muso community partners, our team, and our health care providers, with the 2024 Kristof Holiday Impact Prize. Read his column, Gift Ideas That Push Back the Darkness, here. https://lnkd.in/gWZdpesZ We are living through a dark moment. The world faces more armed conflict than at any time since World War II. This when we are most needed: our action, our commitment, our care matters. When armed conflict broke out in central Mali, our community partners achieved a 63% reduction in child deaths, compared to peacetime. They proved that care can be more powerful than war. Join our community of action (link in the comments) as we aim to provide rapid health care for more than 600,000 people directly, and to 60 million people through policy change and national health care reforms. Let's push back the darkness together. Congratulations to team Muso, and to our inspiring fellow prize winners this year, Fistula Foundation, Reach Out and Read, and Crisis Text Line! Since 2009, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and columnist at The New York Times, Nick Kristof, has written an annual “holiday gift guide” column to raise the profiles of impactful organizations solving the issues covered in his journalism. Included in this year’s column are Muso and Crisis Text Line, two DRK portfolio organizations expanding access to healthcare and mental health resources to save lives. Through government adoption of their rapid care model and community health worker programs, Muso has directly and indirectly reached over 4.5 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa with care during their earliest moments of need — dramatically reducing mortality rates and accelerating access to care for all. And, through their free, 24/7 text-based platform and a network of trained counselors, Crisis Text Line has provided critical mental health support to more than 5.8 million people globally — offering a scalable model for global mental health crisis intervention.
