Happy EARLY #switchgearfriday ! Let's start off this week by saying I don't believe in pay-to-play "Top 100!" or "Best Place to Eat Lunch At Your Desk" awards. To me the proof of being a great employer is low turnover, upward mobility, challenge and growth. That said about 2 months ago I received an email from Jansen Tidmore of the Jeffco EDC saying that Kratos Industries, LLC had been nominated for an award at The Gateways - A celebration of business, of community and of Jefferson County (CO.). He made sure in the introduction to mention that it was NOT a pay to play - smart move. The category we were nominated for was "Project of the Year". It didn't really strike me as anything weighty and when the film crew came in to interview me I just gave them quick story of our last few years. Last night was the awards ceremony and as it turns out - the capstone award was "Project of the Year". We were up against an AMAZING project by the Colorado School of Mines (alma mater, maybe you've heard of them, no big deal) and TriSalus Life Sciences who literally work on improving the lives of people with liver cancer - an absolutely amazing story. Listening to the stories from these organizations was inspiring to say the least - and had me questioning why I was there at all. When the winner was announced I was in shock and I believe I choked on my water while my wife and guests openly gasped as they said Kratos Industries, LLC had won the award for Project of the Year, and for the first time also been given a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition signed by Representative #BrittanyPettersen. To say I was shocked is a gigantic understatement. THE ONLY reason we were even able to be nominated for something like this is because we have built this company on the shoulders of some industry GIANTS that we just happen to be lucky enough to employ. Without 180 people pulling on the rope we have nothing - and certainly not an award of this caliber. This is the TEAM's award. This award belongs to every one of us that has gotten this company to where we stand today. It's a very, very special day for me to think back to just a few short year ago working in the garage. Thank you to every single team member and a special thanks to the city of Arvada and Jefferson county for caring about what small business brings to the community. Happy (cold and getting colder) #switchgearfriday ! We started off the year with a (powder actuated hammer) bang and some much needed facilities upgrades to our Precision Sheetmetal facility. Along with some basics - new flooring, paint, lights - we are also adding a large training room where we are going to be excited to host Sales Channel Partners and customers for on-site training for years to come. There will be plenty of seats, so keep an eye our for some upcoming Kratos Industries, LLC Sales Excellence and IOM trainings to put on your calendar! But not right now. It's cold. Make it a great, frozen-water-pipe-less weekend. Or not - you make the choice!

Happy #switchgearfriday ! Clark went on a quick trip over to Kratos Industries, LLC Precision Sheet Metal! When I asked Clark if he was surprised how much sheetmetal we can produce he replied, "Surprised, Tom? I could wake up with my head sewn to the carpet and I wouldn't be more surprised. " Not only is it awesome to have our own supply chain but it's even better to see how much we produce for our other great customers. I wonder if Santa is going to leave anything under our tree to increase our capacity even more in 2024? Make it a great last second shopping weekend! Or not. You make the (financial) choice.
