Humbled to have been recognized as the AIA Tampa Bay Allied Member of the Year at the Celebrate Design Awards event held at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg tonight. in keeping with the night's theme "La Dolce Vita" I'd like to say L'architettura è stata la mia prima passione (Architecture was my first passion). Introduced to design concepts at an early age by my Uncle Vicente Vazquez, Architect, I was always intrigued by the details, beauty and art accomplished in massive structures. So, it comes as no surprise that I enjoy supporting our design and development partners in architecture. But support goes beyond simply attending. I see it as a duty to help new and experienced professionals alike understand the challenges presented by the systems our professionals at KPI Engineering, Inc. deign. It is also our duty to learn about the myriad of challenges faced by other disciplines like civil, Structural, and interior design. Learning about other issues and solutions helps us to truly serve as a valuable member of each design team making the projects as great as we can together. Thanks to the board and the members of our local AIA chapter for the recognition but more importantly for the opportunity to help all of you along the way. It is thanks to the terrific team of professionals we've assembled at KPI that I am able to not only participate but truly support our architectural partners and those who will become our partners in the future. Happy heavenly birthday to my younger brother Orlando Vargas. It has been five years now since we lost you just before celebrating your birthday. In honor of Orlando, I would like to start the awareness - November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. It is an illness where early detection is the main catalyst toward being cured. Orlando found out late into the cancer development. Doctors thought everything started about five years prior - simply a guess on their part. If so inclined, please share with others to make everyone aware (let's use the power of the internet for good). So excited for our friend Savni on the opening of this masterpiece - The Galaxy Hotel. He has worked on this hotel for longer than I've known him. The first guests were responders for the Helene recovery effort. Pray the structure will make it through the storm intact as I am also praying for the safety of all in its path.
