K+P Advisory, LLC was thrilled to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for the Sankofa Wellness Village, a transformative new hub for health and community services in West Garfield Park neighborhood. Situated at 4305 W. Madison St, this state-of-the-art facility will encompass three stories and 55,000 square feet of innovative space. The Garfield Park Rite to Wellness Collaborative (GPRWC), formed by dedicated community stakeholders, aims to address the various conditions affecting the economic, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of West Garfield Park residents. The Sankofa Wellness Center will serve as a vital anchor for the community, providing essential, interconnected services along the Madison and Pulaski corridor. Its diverse offerings are designed to uplift and empower residents, enhancing access to critical resources while fostering a sense of belonging and unity. The facility will host clinics from Erie Family Health Centers and Rush University Medical Center, responding to a pressing need highlighted by a recent study that revealed life expectancy in Garfield Park is more than 15 years shorter than in other areas of Chicago. Beyond comprehensive healthcare, the Sankofa Wellness Center will also be home to a new West Garfield Park YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, creating spaces for community members to learn, grow, and thrive. Additional features will include a café, fitness facilities, a gymnasium, childcare services, and programs focused on workforce development, financial education, and more. Designed by the esteemed firms of Moody Nolan and Third Entity , the Wellness Center will be constructed by the partnership of Leopardo Construction and UJAMAA Construction JV. Completion is anticipated in 2025. The Community Builders, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and sustaining strong communities, is proud to serve as the developer for this project. It was an inspiring experience to attend the City Club of Chicago event featuring Chicago Park District Superintendent Rosa Escareno. Her engaging presentation highlighted the numerous benefits that parks bring to our communities, from enhancing mental well-being to fostering social connections. Superintendent Escareno's passion for promoting healthy, vibrant spaces was evident as she shared her insights on how parks serve as essential hubs for recreation, relaxation, and community engagement. She also unveiled the new strategic plan. This ambitious plan outlines innovative approaches to park development, ensuring equitable access and sustainability for all residents. It’s exciting to see how this vision will shape our city’s green spaces in the coming years, making them more accessible and beneficial for everyone. NASCAR recently announced the street race will be returning to City of Chicago in 2025. As Julie Giese, Chicago Street Race President stated, “[The race] has quickly become one of the highlights of the Chicago summer calendar, so we are proud to bring NASCAR back to this great city for a third year in a row”. Thrilled to share that we attended the Illinois Convention Kick Off Luncheon at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 Hall! It was inspiring to see so many individuals enthusiastically supporting next week's convention in Chicago. Governor JB Pritzker provided welcome remarks and revved up the crowd. The energy in the room was contagious. It was also great to see Lt. Yesterday marked a significant milestone in the journey to the 2024 Democratic National Convention as the podium and staging to be used during the event were publicly revealed at the United Center. This unveiling represents one of the final steps in transforming the United Center into the dynamic convention hall where Democrats from across the nation will gather to rally and celebrate. City of Chicago is ready to welcome the 50,000+ delegates, media, and volunteers who will make this event truly unforgettable.
