“Africa needs more energy of all kinds to bring greater prosperity to its people.” Kosmos Energy’s Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis sat down with NJ Ayuk JD, MBA., Executive Chairman at African Energy Chamber for a dialogue at AEC African Energy Week in Cape Town discussing the future of energy in Africa and the investments driving his optimism for its future. Hear from Andy on how Africa will forge a different path for its energy transition: https://lnkd.in/etSiaW_W #AfricanEnergyWeek
With the right environment, investments and financing, Africa has the potential to be a global gas powerhouse, strengthening energy security domestically and around the world. To realize this ambition, Africa’s gas must be harnessed at home to deliver reliable and affordable energy to the 745 million people still living without dependable access. At AEC African Energy Week in Cape Town last week, organized by African Energy Chamber, I had the privilege to speak about the future of energy in Africa, the critical elements for developing its world-class gas resources quickly and sustainably, and the role countries and companies like Kosmos Energy can play in helping Africa shape its own energy destiny and reach its full potential. To achieve this, we must transform the way we pursue development projects and partnerships. We need to be open to new partnerships between players with distinctive expertise and experience - built on collaboration, transparency, and a shared agenda. When we get this collaboration right, projects move faster and with greater urgency. Africa’s energy security can only be decided by Africans. That has been my firm belief since Kosmos began operating on the continent 20 years ago. In addition, Africa’s energy transition must drive economic growth and meet energy demand. At Kosmos, we are committed to being the best possible partners to help achieve this vision. Thank you to Khady Dior Ndiaye, Mike Anderson, and Todd Niebruegge for representing Kosmos and driving forward these critical conversations. Proud of Kosmos Energy’s continued leadership in supporting Africa’s energy transition. #AfricanEnergyWeek

As we approach year-end 2024, our production expansion is progressing steadily toward our target of approximately 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day around the end of the year. Highlights from the third quarter include: -?In the US Gulf of Mexico, we achieved first production at Winterfell and successfully completed two operated production enhancement projects at Kodiak and Odd Job. - In Equatorial Guinea, the drilling campaign is underway with the first of two infill wells online in October and the second one expected online later this month. We expect to spud the Akeng Deep infrastructure-led exploration well imminently, with a result by year end. - In Mauritania and Senegal significant progress has been made towards project startup, an important event for the GTA partnership and the people of Senegal and Mauritania - In Ghana, we finished the three-year drilling campaign mid-year and are now optimizing the activity schedule for 2025, including a 4D seismic survey set to begin early next year. In addition to operational gains, we strengthened our financial resilience by extending maturities, enhancing liquidity, and simplifying the company’s capital structure. Looking ahead, as production increases, we will remain focused on disciplined capital allocation, with a plan to significantly reduce growth capex year-on-year. In 2025, we plan to prioritize free cash flow, and expect to use cash generated to accelerate debt pay down.?Combined with our proactive actions taken to strengthen the balance sheet, Kosmos Energy is well positioned entering 2025.?????????????? Two years ago, we set a target to grow production by 50% from around 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day to around 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. We are making good progress to meet that goal. Key highlights from Q3 include: In the US Gulf of Mexico, we achieved first production at Winterfell and successfully completed two operated production enhancement projects at Kodiak and Odd Job. In Equatorial Guinea, the drilling campaign is underway with the first of two infill wells online in October and the second one expected online later this month. Africa needs reliable energy to bring greater prosperity to its people. The continent’s natural gas resources can play a crucial role in providing affordable domestic power while offering secure, cost-effective, and lower-carbon energy to the world. It is our goal at Kosmos to be the best possible partners to achieve that ambition. Our Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis will join African Energy Chamber’s NJ Ayuk JD, MBA. at AEC African Energy Week 2024 next week in Cape Town to discuss Africa’s priorities as it seeks to end energy poverty and set the stage for an even brighter future. #AfricanEnergyWeek?https://lnkd.in/e8cBcsBW

Last week, our Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis participated in an executive dialogue at BloombergNEF with William Young, ACWA Power’s Marco ARCELLI, and Export-Import Bank of the United States’ Reta Jo Lewis, Esq. where they discussed how to encourage investment and advance the energy transition in emerging markets. Hear from Andy about what practical actions are needed to bring lasting economic and social benefits. #BNEFSummit
Emerging markets need access to reliable, affordable, and lower carbon energy sources -- but are struggling to attract sufficient investment. This moves us further away from the equitable energy transition we should all want to happen. Last week, I had the opportunity to return to this year’s #BNEFSummit to speak about this topic with BloombergNEF’s William Young, ACWA Power’s Marco ARCELLI, and Export-Import Bank of the United States’ Reta Jo Lewis, Esq. The Executive Dialogue focused on practical actions to encourage investment and advance the energy transition in emerging markets. The solution is clear – countries and companies must work more closely together to mobilize the required sums of capital. At Kosmos Energy, we believe success will be based on building a shared agenda with host countries and aligning our work to national development goals. Collaboration, transparency, and respect are the cornerstones of sustainable development -- and the only way to create lasting benefits for all stakeholders.
